CHAPTER 27 Time never stops. Sometimes, I wish I could freeze it—to fix my past mistakes—but alas, time never halts. It pushes you forward into the future, never backward into what’s gone. How ironic, isn’t it? It had been a week since we returned to Salvatore’s villa. The days in Bracciano were beautiful—its weather, the views, the food, everything. Salvatore and his men wrapped up their work successfully while Bella, Eva, and I explored the town. What surprised me most was Salvatore’s behavior. After that night on the castle rooftop, his anger had vanished. He no longer hit me or lashed out. In fact, he seemed to completely ignore me.
