Aphrodite's POV
The playful banter between Efrick and Godric made me chuckle. Their dynamic was entertaining, but it was Godric's deep, effortless voice that truly caught my attention. There was something undeniably masculine about it—something that made my heart skip a beat. And hold on, did I hear correctly? Efrick’s full name is Igor? What a bizarre name! Hahaha. My mind wandered to a different thought, one that I wasn’t quite ready to entertain: does Godric actually like me? Just like that? A tiny, inexplicable thrill coursed through me at the idea. My flirtatious side perked up, eager to play along. LOL.
By the time our first two classes wrapped up, I hurried to stash my things in my locker. The girls had their own designated locker room, and as I was about to close mine, I suddenly felt someone sneak up behind me.
"Ah! You monkey-horse!" I exclaimed, not too loudly, but enough to express my shock.
"What? Where? Is there even such a crossbreed?" a familiar voice chuckled from behind me.
I turned around to see Megame grinning at me, and I let out a sigh of relief before smirking at her. "Oh, it’s you. You scared me, Megame!"
She laughed. "Sorry, just call me Meg now. We’re close friends, right? You’ll have to get used to it—I love surprising people. It’s just how I am."
"Hmm, alright then," I said, still amused by her antics. "Come on! Let’s head to recess together."
As we walked down the stairs, something outside caught my attention. The wall beside the staircase was made of glass, providing a clear view of the parking area, and there, in front of the grand fountain, was an impressive lineup of expensive cars. A sleek BMW, a black limousine, two SUVs, and two imposing black Ford cars trailed behind. My curiosity piqued, and I nudged Meg.
"Who owns those cars? What’s going on, Meg?" I asked, my voice brimming with intrigue.
"Oh, those? They belong to Godric’s dad. Why? What’s happening?" she replied absentmindedly.
I blinked. Did she just answer my question with another question? If we were really that close, I would’ve playfully knocked her on the head for that. Hahaha. We continued our way to the cafeteria.
After grabbing our food, we spotted an empty table and started walking toward it, but then a voice called out to Meg, stopping us in our tracks. We turned toward the source, and to my surprise, it was none other than Efrick.
"Meg! Cousin! You two can sit here, I’m all alone!" he called out.
Wait... cousins? I didn’t see that coming. But hey, this was actually good news—it meant I could get closer to both of them. Meg pulled me along, so I followed without hesitation.
"Hi, Horny Cousin," Meg greeted him casually.
I nearly choked on my food. Wow, their cousin dynamic was on another level! What a way to greet each other. Hahaha.
"Why are you alone? Where’s your friend Godric? And what’s up with his dad’s car and the PSG security vehicles outside? What’s happening, Cous?" Meg continued, her tone suddenly more serious.
"Ah, Godric’s dad picked him up. He had a checkup again. You know how it is with his heart condition—his uncle insists on regular tests, even though Godric keeps saying he’s fine. He’ll be back after; the car’s still parked outside," Efrick explained, taking a sip of his drink.
"I see," Meg sighed, then turned to me. "By the way, I assume you already know Aphrodite, since you two are sitting next to each other?"
"Oh, yes. Anyway, nice to meet you properly," Efrick said with a smile, extending his hand for a handshake.
I returned the smile and shook his hand. "Likewise."
As we ate, I found myself drawn into an interesting conversation. Efrick was a natural comedian, and I found myself laughing at his ridiculous remarks. If Godric was anything like this, I was beginning to understand why they were best friends.
Efrick also shared some intriguing details about Godric’s life. I was floored. The guy practically lived like royalty! His past, however, wasn’t as glamorous. His "perfect" ex-girlfriend? A gold-digger! The realization made me feel... something. Was it pity? Frustration? Maybe both. It made sense why Godric sometimes seemed so emotionally distant. If I were in his shoes, I’d probably be wary of people too.
We kept chatting, and eventually, I asked Efrick about Patrick, the so-called heartthrob of the College of Computer Studies. Why did he seem so envious of Godric? Efrick, ever the open book, spilled the tea. Ah, so that’s it—Patrick’s just a small-minded, arrogant fool. Tsk.
Just then, Godric returned for lunch. He looked fine, his usual self, but there was something about the way he carried himself that exuded effortless confidence. He acknowledged my presence with a nod and that handsome grin, making me swallow the forming lump in my throat hard. Efrick and Godric started chatting, their conversation lighthearted and full of energy. I sat near the door, absentmindedly shifting my chair, blocking the entrance slightly. With Meg gone for a quick bathroom break, I was left with no one to talk to.
I observed the two boys, their casual camaraderie, the way they seemed completely at ease with each other. It was rare to see such an unbreakable bond between friends, and I couldn’t help but be drawn to it. Then, unexpectedly, Efrick caught my eye and smirked, subtly nodding toward Godric. As if on cue, Godric turned to look at me—and smiled.
I repeat, he smiled.
Tsk. Haha. I felt a strange jolt run through my body, but I forced myself to stay composed. No way was I letting him see me flustered. So, I did what any self-respecting girl would do—I smiled back, keeping it cool.
But wow, just replaying Godric’s killer smile in my head made me shiver. He was the kind of guy who could make girls weak in the knees with just a grin. I needed to snap out of it—my thoughts were getting way too wild. Hahaha.
Meg eventually returned, and we continued chatting until it was time for classes to resume. I went about my usual routine—flipping my hair, flashing my best smile.
The day passed quicker than I expected, and soon, I was home. As soon as I entered my room, I flopped onto my bed, deep in thought.
Wait... did Godric just play me? No, that didn’t seem right. Or was I just overthinking? Did I really just... fantasize about him?
Ugh. My mind was all over the place. And why did my bra suddenly feel so uncomfortable? Ugh, whatever. I let out a sigh, deciding to stay right where I was, sprawled on my bed, lost in thought.
