-Rose Dern- (finally my p.o.v)
“I don't think there's a need for you to come along, you really should rest.” I told Suzy, though certain she wasn't going to heed to what I was saying.
She was packing her hair in a ponytail. “I'm okay, I've been declared cancer free, so no need to worry.”
“The doctor said you need rest for at least two to three months, you should stay at home.”
“Rose, I'm alright.” When I didn't look convinced, she added, “and perhaps, I'll be staying in a car for about ninety nine percent of the journey, I think I'll be fine. I also want to see Eri.”
I sighed in defeat. “Whatever, let's get going then.”
We left the house, ambling to one of the cars we had whose door was opened by a bodyguard, and we both walked in.
This was the life. I was living a wealthy life, all thanks to Eri.
The car started moving when the bodyguard closed the car door.
It came to a halt in front of Don's mansion.
I hadn't been to the mansion before so its beauty certainly left me in awe.
A bodyguard sauntered towards us, opening the car door for us even though we were capable of doing that ourselves.
“Wow.” Suzy said when we were both out of the car.
“This is such a beautiful house, even bigger than ours.” I completed what she obviously wanted to say.
We both moved towards the beautiful door, where I pressed the doorbell.
Within a few seconds, the door opened and a female I guessed to be a maid was standing in front of us.
“Good day, I'm looking for Eri. I'm Rose.” I smiled at her.
“Oh yes, please come in.” She made way for the both of us to enter which we did.
“Where is she?” This place was too big for me to search for her myself.
“She's in the second parlor with Mr Jones and Mr Stan.” She said that like I was going to quickly know where that was.
“Please take us there.” Suzy had a warm smile on.
With a curt nod, the maid started walking towards where I guessed was the second parlor so we followed her till she stopped in front of a door.
“They're in there.”
I opened the door without even bothering to knock, closing it once Suzy and I were in.
“Hi Eri.” A smile appeared on my lips when I sighted her sitting on a sofa.
A grin that travelled from ear to ear greeted us as she jumped from the sofa, scampering towards us.
“Rose! Suzy!” Her arms wrapped around us in a big hug. “Oh my, I've missed you two so much.” She tightened the hug ehen we hugged back.
“I guess I missed you.” I joked when she'd released us from the hug, earning a playful slap on my shoulder.
“Oh my, you won't believe bla bla bla.” I stopped listening when I sighted the man sitting beside Don who was staring at the three of us.
He was breathtaking. He had smooth dark skin with black and curly hair that made my hands feel the urge to run through it.
My breath seized when his dark eyes met with my hazel colored own.
Our gaze locked, but I didn't break from it, wondering if my thumping heart could be heard.
“Rose.” Eri made me break from his gaze and breath.
When her gaze travelled from Darien to me, I had to hope she didn't notice what was happening.
The first thing I needed to control at the moment was my heart rate.
Hopefully she wouldn't notice that either.
“Why are you blushing?” I didn't even realize I was till she pointed it out.
“Am I?”
“Yes you are.” Suzy said with a chuckle.
Eri held my hand, moving me towards where Don and Darien were sitting.
My heart might not have been throbbing so fast if Darien's gaze had left me.
But for some reason, it didn't, and I had to look anywhere but him.
“Darien, this is my best friend, Rose Dern.” What was she doing? “And Rose, this is Darien Stan.”
He stood up from the sofa he sat, beside Don who was staring with a raised brow. “Hi Rose.” He stretched forth his hand.
“Hi.” As I received his hand, I had to be forced to meet his gaze.
He let the handshake last a moment longer than needed. Our fingers intertwined together sent shivers down my spine.
“Uh, okay then why don't we go to my room.” Eri broke the awkward silence I didn't realize was even there.
We left the parlor to Eri's room.
But the place where his hand had made contact felt warm like his hand was still on it.
Eri's room was very huge and beautiful. Her bed was of similar size to the one Suzy and I shared.
It was also as soft as it.
The three of us made ourselves comfortable on the bed.
“What was that?” Suzy had that teasing smile on.
“What was what?” I pretended to not understand what she meant.
“What’s going on in your thoughts about Darien?”
“Nothing. You know guys, I think I want to start working again. I don't like sitting at home everyday.” I quickly changed the topic because it was discomforting.
“Don't change the topic.” Suzy said but I ignored.
“You know,” Eri started, “I heard Don and Darien talking and Darien said he was looking for a new personal assistant and secretary, you could try it.”
The thought of working with him made the color rise to my cheeks, but I was able to cover it with her hair.
What on earth was happening to me?

I lay on the bed beside Suzy who I guessed was already asleep.
We slept in the same room though there were lots of empty rooms, but I just wanted to stay close to Suzy, just in case.
My thoughts went back to Eri.
The three hours we'd stayed in her place for was filled with us asking her tons of questions about her stay in Australia.
Although she told us a lot of things, I was sure there was something she was keeping but I didn't think it was right to force her to tell me, she'd do so when she's ready.
A vibration from my phone alerted me of a notification so I reached for it, checking what message I had received.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw it.
'Hi Rose, it's Darien. I got your number from Eri.' Eri, that goat.
I replied after a few deep breaths. 'Hi Darien.'
His reply came almost immediately.
‘Eri told me you're in need of a job and I'm in need of a personal assistant. Will you be available the day after tomorrow for a job interview at Stan's international?’
'Sure, okay.’
I had no idea what was happening but I felt my heart fluttering just by knowing I might be working for him.
