The anguished cry of her mother as she pleaded and begged Greta’s father to intercede. A slam of a door. The final goodbye. There was one person who might know something. With the help of Liesel, Greta had sent a few letters covertly to her mother, letting her know she was still alive. They received no response to them, but she hoped somehow those letters, like messages in a bottle, found their way home.
