The heat of the afternoon faded to a cool evening breeze, the din of insects buzzing their mating calls filled the air. The sun sank lower in the sky beyond the trees casting long shadows across the wooden floor. Ezra had exhausted himself playing in his world of fantasy and now sat on the sofa reading from a book Liesel brought with her. Earlier, she stopped in for a brief visit, happy to finally make Ruth’s acquaintance.
