As Abel walked away from the Phelps cottage, he felt renewed and alive. He suddenly had a way to get out of his deal with Magdalena too. He knew the deal would only hold if she created life buyers for him and also created a passage for him to get to the dark forest. Because of this, he decided to do without her service. The mage had nothing on him. She might have helped with the council issue, but that was it. He had also given her information that had assisted the mages to take over the supernatural council. Abel decided that they were even. As things were, he was already sacrificing a lot for that girl. The last thing he wanted was to owe shady characters for her sake. Going to the dark forest was a risk on its own, and that was the only risk he was willing to take.
