We stand there unable to move because we are too scared of the current situation. The three of us didn’t want to deal with someone who we can’t even specify. All of us flinched when he sighed, we stared at him while he touched the part on his face where Lucas hit. After a few seconds of feeling his wound, we watched as a luminous light came out from his hand. The wound healed when the light vanished. After doing it he looks at me intently. I gulped when I met his eyes, I noticed the color of his iris. A beautiful vibrant yellow, that lights up every time the sunlight hits his eyes.
But then, Neveah screamed, which caused Lucas and me to jump. She ran away heading to the door but before she could successfully go outside, she stopped. Walking backward to her former place. She dragged me and Lucas, linking her arms to ours. We were unable to process what was happening so we had no choice but to get dragged by Neveah.
I took a glance behind and I saw the man massaging his temples as if annoyed. He looked at us. With a wave of his hand, the door forcefully shut itself causing a loud bang that resonates into the entire mansion.
We stopped Infront of the door trying to open it but it was of no use. Neveah put all of her might to pull the doorknob to the point that it detached itself to the door. All of us stared at her hands, the doorknob sitting on her palm. We panicked, banging the door screaming for help. We turned around with caution when we heard his footsteps. Without any choice, Neveah pushed Lucas in Infront of him,
“Lucas hit him again!” Lucas stumbled looking at Neveah, shock evident on his face.
“What the hell? How ‘bout you try?” going back to our direction pushing Neveah.
“I can’t fight, dumb ass!” Pulling Lucas, trying to switch their locations.
“I’d be a fool if I tried to hit him again, that guy can do magic!” Trying to pull his hands-off Neveah’s grasp.
I rolled my eyes at their actions, “Is this situation really required to be in a discussion?”
I snapped at them. Both of them went silent. Neveah who eventually agrees pulled Lucas’ arms again causing Lucas to hold onto the door, I gaped at the both of them. Wondering what they’re doing.
“Larcade’s right so that’s why you need to sacrifice yourself”
Neveah successfully pulled Lucas off, throwing him at the front but Lucas, who grasped Neveah’s arms, was pulled too, due to the force Lucas was about to fall when he landed onto something or rather someone.
Both Neveah and I gasp. Lucas, who saw our reaction paled,
“He’s behind me isn’t he?”
We both nod in unison. Our eyes widen not knowing what to do. Cursing all of us to suddenly forget about the danger that was Infront. I grabbed Lucas’ arms and pulled him, who knew what this man would do to him. After having Lucas’ back, we backed away bumping at the door. With nowhere to run, our only hope was to pray for him to not harm us. Grinding my teeth, I anxiously closed my eyes expecting something to happen.
“I’m not going to hurt you”
As if reading our minds, he stated with a monotone voice. Taking a peek, I saw him stopped at a safe distance. The three of us looked at each other, confused.
“I do not wish to harm all of you, I’m just simply doing what I had to do.” With an emotionless face, we can’t help to wonder if he really is speaking the truth.
“Why were you being so scary, then?!” Neveah can’t help but get irritated.
“I apologize, every sane person gets angry when attacked out of nowhere.”
Because of this, Neveah looked at Lucas with a frightening look, “So, it’s your fault.”
She said looking lifeless. “Hey, I’m not the one who secretly follows someone like a stalker.” Lucas’ refute. Neveah switched his attention back to the guy, “So, it’s your fault.”
I pursed my lips, embarrassed by Neveah’s action. I look back at him, his emotionless expression switch causing Neveah to flinch. Grabbing our arms, Neveah hid behind our shoulders like a puppy.
“Why are you following us?” Lucas glared at him, “I’m not following you, rather I’m following him.”
He pointed at me which made me panic, I gulped trying to find a reason why. ‘Maybe I did something unforgivable to him? But I haven’t seen this man in my entire life.’
Suddenly a flash of epiphany came to me, now that I look at him, he looks familiar. ‘wait, don’t tell me…’ I stared at him. A messy dirty blonde hair and yellow eyes. “Are you perhaps, Damian?” The moment I asked this, his eyes widened in surprise.
“How did you know?”
I rummaged through my backpack when he asked, looking for the book where his picture was and then showing it to him, “You are Isis’ student, Damian, right?”
He grabbed the book staring at it, with emotions that I can’t explain, he smiled bitterly.
“Now tell me, are you one who made me dreamt about her and the other people in that book?”
Confronting him, I was finally getting my answer a little nervous but I had to listen. I know those dreams aren’t ordinary, I know that my life is slowly taking a weird shift, but even those are happening, I want to know why. Anticipating his words, I stared at him aggressively. He looked at me, his face evident with bewilderment.
“What dream?” I blinked. ‘So, he wasn’t the one who made me dreamt of all of those.’ I felt dismayed. Of course.
“ I dreamt of that woman named Isis Dewin and the other people in the book” Nevertheless I still told him about my dream, hoping that he can help me find the answers,
“ In my dream, I saw this mansion and I also saw how it fell and everyone who lived in here” He listens to me attentively and sighed. But before he could talk, Neveah caught him off.
“Wait, what’re you guys talking about?” Looking at me then Damian, “Yeah, what dreams?” Lucas also asked curiously. I sighed, even though I don’t want them to know, I had to tell them since they are already involved.
“ I had a dream of this mansion yesterday and also those people who were in that book,” I started with hesitance laced in my voice. “My dream started with them dancing but it went downhill when I saw how this mansion was burned and their corpses lying in the ground,” I shuddered when I remembered those horrible events that happened.
“I was in that dream and it felt so real. My overwhelming feelings and panic attack felt so real, however, this woman called Isis appeared before me and helped me to wake up.” My mind went back to the time I met her.
“She even knew my name, I know it sounds weird but trusts me, Neveah, it’s all true.” Neveah with his eyebrow scrunch and jaw tightening was in disbelief. I glanced at Lucas and he also too was in disbelief.
“But that book is all about sorcerers, don’t tell me.” She said trying to make me disagree about it being true. “I know that’s why I’m here. But I’m not the one who you should ask,” I glanced at the person who was my hope for all the answers I’ve been looking for since yesterday.
“Yes, they are all sorcerers.”Damian started his explanation; we stood there Ready to listen to his explanation.
“People who use magic and supernatural powers, you name it.” He looked at us one by one.
“And the woman named Isis was the late great sorceress, her duty was to protect the harmony of creatures and sorcerers. I was taken by Isis’ care when I was a demon. Before she got the title, he took me as her student,” He said with pride.
“Though many sorcerers opposed her decision she ignored them and continued being my teacher. However, due to her being powerful and getting the title of the great sorceress, lots of sorcerers envied her that led them to betray us. They were called the Fallens.” We saw Damian give a sour look on his face as he recalls those events.
“The burning mansion was their first step of treachery, having been backed up by their KING who they looked up to and worshiped like a God. He was the one who contributed to their hatred. Sent powerful forces to the war and because of it we were forced to retreat,” His scowl worsened.
“However even with us retreating they still attacked us, it was a one-sided m******e of all of our comrades. Isis, who realized that we were losing, tried to find a solution. A great sorceress's heart was important since it is their source of power, Isis who was afraid that they’ll take it had no other choice but to transfer her powers to her descendant, and because of that action her life force deteriorated and eventually died.” We sat there unable to process everything that he said.
“I watch her fading away in my arms. Once a sorcerer's power is stripped off of them completely, they’ll eventually die, and when they die they turn into ashes.” He tried to regain his composure, trying to fix his emotions. We watched as he struggled to tell us the horrifying events that he experienced.
“It was a different case of those corpses that you saw, since they were killed by a demon, their body will take a day to turn into ashes.” He clenched his fist, and I can see it turning red. “Then what’s the reason that I dreamt of those events?” I still haven’t found my answer, so I caught his attention.
“You dreamt of those events since you are Isis’ chosen one, you are her successor, and in two weeks when the red eclipse appears, you will be awakened as the great sorceress.” He answered, in a straightforward manner. Ending his explanation.
We sat there in silence for a mere 5 seconds. “Wait, Magic powers are real?”
Neveah who raised her hand was the one breaking the silence, “You’re a demon?” Lucas followed after, also raising his hand in which Damian nodded to their questions. They shake their heads still trying to believe what he said.
“So that’s why you were following him like a stalker- wait, you’re the one who I saw last night standing at his house, right? The one I fought with”
Lucas asked loudly, his voice echoing inside the mansion. Neveah, shocked by this information muttered under her breath, “You fought with him?”
Lucas who heard it nods, staring at Lucas in disbelief, “So you’re still the same rampaging gorilla back in high school.” Lucas who was offended by her insult grabbed Neveah’s hair which she also returned by grabbing his hair
“Yes. I was tasked by Isis to be the great sorceress’ guardian.” Damian rolled his eyes, trying to ignore what they’re doing. I stand there and just like him, I was done by the two bickering
After ignoring them, I glanced at Damian “What do you mean, I’m her successor?”
I was unable to swallow the new information. By the time I asked this Lucas and Neveah behaved themselves sensing the rising tension.
“What I mean is that you have the blood of a sorcerer and that you will be the Great sorcerer in two weeks.” I scoffed at what he said,
‘How can I be a great sorcerer or whatever that is.’ “How can I be that? Both of my parents are humans. And they don’t even have a connection to this sorcery thing.”
I tried to oppose everything that he said. That can’t be. I repeated those words like a broken record in my head. “Isis was your father’s mother. He was born prematurely and a chimera and he was about to die, the elder sorcerers didn’t have a choice but to remove his sorcerer's blood, he didn’t die because his father was also a human.”
Shaking my head denying everything he said. I pointed at him with a glare “You’re a liar, yes, all of this is not true you’re just a streamer who was also a part-time stalker and all of this is a prank, magic powers aren’t true, demons are not real!”
Giving out logical reasons and convincing myself, I was close to being insane. My mind was blown, denying everything. ‘I am a human’
“If I was the one you said I’d be, then you are also an accomplice, does that mean that dream of yours was also made up?” I stare at him in silence ‘shit...’ losing all hope, I crouched down rubbing my face, ‘dear God if this is all a dream please wake me'
“Okay, let’s pretend that all of it was true, that I was the next great sorcerer and you are my guardian, then where were you for 20 whole years?” I stared at him standing up ‘If he was tasked to be my guardian then why didn’t he tell me sooner? Not that it matters.'
“Before I can get to you, I was captured by the shadow hunters, shadow creatures who work for the 12 apostles.” Our heads snapped in the direction of Neveah who made an involuntary noise,
“What’s that?” tilting her head. “They are one of the organizations who was entrusted by the KING to be their soldiers and the 12 apostles were their generals. They’re also the ones in charge of the one-sided m******e that killed all of the sorcerers here in HELIO.”
Neveah gulped when she heard it. This situation does really take my life 180 degrees. I grind my teeth expressing my anxiety, “This 12-apostles failed to take Isis’ heart since she transferred it, then don’t tell me they’re going after me?”
If that is the case then my life is in danger. Then what about my family? If all of this is true then my family will also be in danger. Just like Damian said, these 12 apostles can easily take someone’s life without blinking.
“That would be impossible, if that was the case, you would’ve been gone by now,” Lucas said holding my shoulders. I smiled because of his actions.
“Yes and no.” We turn our heads to Damian, demanding an explanation. “After Isis transferred her power to you, her powers were stored together with your power. Before your awakening, your presence as a sorcerer is currently concealed including your scent since you’ve been with humans all your life. If they met you right now they will think that you are an ordinary human. So, without any other choice, they have to wait for your awakening.” He explained.
‘So, it still doesn’t change the fact that I’m still their target.’ Instead of saying it out loud, I sighed. There is still a part of me that is in denial. If I accept this path, surely everything close to me would probably be involved. I glanced at Neveah and Lucas who were just standing beside me without anything to say.
“So, what’s your entire purpose in coming here? I know that you said that you are my guardian but I feel that there is still something that you’re not telling me.” I snapped. I felt my blood boil as I finally realized his intention. “You want me to avenge Isis’ death, am I right?”
I stare at him. Feeling my blood rushing to my face, I clench my fist. He wanted me to fight those apostles, does he expect me to accept that? I was a human and will still be. This entire situation has nothing to do with me. How could, she, Isis give me this huge burden, did they expect me to agree like a fool and risk my own life just to avenge people I have no connection with?! How could Isis plan my whole life without my own accord?
I was about to tell Damian what my decision is, but our heads snapped at the ceiling when we heard a cracking noise, not long after the ceiling broke, the debris fell upon us. Lucas with his fast reflexes pushed Neveah and me to avoid getting hit.
After the debris fell, I anxiously look for Lucas. I saw him also successfully avoiding fallen debris to my relief. We coughed because of the clouds of dust after regaining our composure. We saw Damian taking a stance In Front of us, we noticed his nails as sharp as a knife.
Wondering why he took out his claws, we tried to ask him but stopped finally realizing that we had a new company. Two men dressed in black coats were standing opposite Damian. ‘They were the ones who did this to the ceiling, we were almost buried alive’
They were grinning like a villain showing their fangs. I also noticed their unusual eyes. The guy on the right had an all-black eye on his left eye while the other guy’s all-black eye was on his right, they also both had forked tongues. “So, we are finally getting to meet one of the villains, huh? Great.”Neveah said bitterly, beside me.
“So surprised to find you here in HELIO, Damian?” The right all-black eye said with a mocking tone. The left all-black eye cackles. “Missing your mommy?” He said with a mocking voice. “ You even bought friends, how thoughtful of you, though they aren’t as important as you.”
Laughing together Damian took a fighting stance in front of us. Protecting and hiding us from the two. “Who are they?” Neveah, who can’t keep her mouth shut, asked with curiosity. “They’re the ones tasked to capture me, Nagi and Gini.”
