Chapter 45: Broken Wings

Loki neatly puts up his tie as he stares at himself in the mirror. He took a break from working hours at the casino. Suddenly, the door swung up on the locker room revealing Alex and Naki who was looking haggard and tired. Naki sits up on a bench while fanning himself.

“Man, that was tiresome!” He said while wiping his sweat. “I never really Imagine working in the casino my entire life! That I was surprised when I step out in there,” Alex said as he take out his white gloves and place them on a small desk. Alex sits down on a bench that is opposite to Naki’s.

“It’s really making me work harder than ever,” Naki lied down on the bench. “Did you notice about the workers?” Alex suddenly asks. Naki looks at him with bewilderment. “They’re not humans,” Loki blurted out. Naki jolted sitting up. “They’re not?” He asks in bewilderment.

“ I can sense some of it although I’m not sure, I got a hunch that some of them are sorcerers,” Loki said while making his hair slicked back style. “What????” Naki's eyes followed Loki who passed through him and then went out of his way. Loki walked back to the main hall to work again. He met a tall man on his way. Silver hair and was wearing a white polo shirt and black slacks. Loki noticed the fabric on his clothes that made him think that It was expensive. And a split second, their eyes met. Loki widen his eyes when he noticed that they had the same color of irises, purple. 

The man abruptly came to a stop when he noticed Loki’s presence. Both of them locked eyes with each other. Somehow Loki can’t get a grip on himself and was lost at the vibrant color of purple hues in his eyes, ‘this guy he’s powerful’ With that thought the door that Loki came out bust open. Scarlet Yale comes marching down on him. Loki looked as Scarlet kneel in front of the tall man,” Greetings, Neo,” She said while her palms were on her chest. The said guy did not pay attention to her rather he was too immersed in the person behind him and that was Loki. 

Scarlet noticed his silence and look up and finally realize that Loki was there. She stood up, “Loki, dear please excuse and give us a moment,” Scarlet’s smile didn’t flatter when Loki hesitated but because she was her boss he finally obliged. Before walking away he stole a glance one last time and the tall guy was still staring at him. Loki hurriedly went out feeling a sense of fear crept upon him. But he was also confused when he also felt a sense of familiarity with those silver hair.  But, he quickly dismissed the feeling when he realized that guy could be a potential threat to him.

Meanwhile in the other city, in a dense forest and into the creature’s realm, Neveah's shouts were heard. Her high deafening screams resonated the whole realm as she runs like someone is going to kill her. All of the three were training again. Larcade and Lucas were resting while catching their breathes as they followed Neveah who was running around the field because of Teo’s orders. Each of them had their own teachers. Neveah with Teo, Lucas with Kion, and Damian with Larcade. The latter part would be a sight not everyone wants to see since the two have been each other’s throats for just even a minor inconvenience but surprisingly enough they were the ones who were well behaved and have a mutual understanding.

“He really did let her run more laps than us,” Larcade said trying not to stutter. 

“Well he said that Neveah wants to get stronger,” Lucas stated already regained his composure. Larcade stares at Teo who was encouraging Neveah and Neveah replies to him with shouts of ‘yes sir’ Larcade suddenly recalls that Neveah holds the title of a black belter. ‘She’s already so strong,’ Larcade thought.

“Rest time is over let’s go back to training,” Damian said while he unconsciously hit Larcade’s back. Larcade wince at the impact and starred at Damian questionably as he touch the part where it hurts. “Sorry,” After that, both Lucas and Larcade went back to training. Damian was teaching Larcade how to use his power without forcing it or straining his body. Lucas on the other hand was currently making himself burn prior to Kion’s orders.

“I don’t think this would help!” Lucas shouted at Kion who was laying down comfortably on the lawn under the shade of a tree, “No it’s perfect!” Kion shouted back. “You’re doing good!” He then grabbed a grape on a plate that was sitting in front of him. “ I don’t think you're paying much attention to me Kion!” Lucas was getting annoyed by the criosphinx.“Please don’t I’m keeping an eye on you!” Kion said with a smile and Lucas just rolled his eyes.

Neveah was now resting somewhere. She was lying in a star shape form on the lawn while chasing her breath. Her legs have given up because of running laps that she forget to count. “Man, I’m so beaten up~,” She said while sitting up. She stared at Larcade and Lucas who were training with Kion and Damian and then she wonders where were his trainer. She recalls that Teo excused himself a while ago. She sighed. Suddenly a rustle was heard in the bush that made Neveah flinched.

She snapped his head in the direction of the noise and saw the bushes moving. Neveah crawled back but not too far. Suddenly a baby horsed popped up in the bushes. Neveah stared at it for a second before cooing. She immediately stand up and approached the horse. The colt realized her intention and went back in again. Neveah halted thinking that it might be scared so she dared not to follow it. Suddenly the colt came back again popping its head out of the bushes. Neveah stared at it confused, “You want me to follow you?” Neveah asked crouching down and the colt neighed.

The colt then began to dive back in and Neveah followed him taking a big step on the bush. She followed the colt’s neigh. She began to walk away far from the training grounds. The sounds that come out from the colt were slowly vanishing away and Neveah tried her best not to lose it. She began to run but was hit by a branch on her forehead. She fell down on her butt as she groaned and winces because of the pain, “Okay! That’s it I concluded I hate it here!” She said while still holding the part where it hurts.

Suddenly a neigh in front of her was heard and a bright light blinded her eyes. She immediately covered both of her eyes to protect and cover the blinding light. Suddenly a shadow was cast and she peek through her closed eyes and saw a magnificent creature. White straight mane and feathered on its hooves a big wings that can engulf 5 people. The creature was massive. It stood up and neighing to Neveah. The said girl’s jaw opened wide as he can’t believe what stood in front of her, “A pegasus?” She said still in disbelief. She slowly walk to it and the horse was waiting for her. Neveah put up her palms. Being careful not to scare the gentle creature. The pegasus noticed her action and leaned forward. Neveah slightly flinched when she touches her silky and smooth face. The pegasus closed its eyes to her touch, “Hi boy,” The pegasus neigh objecting to what she said, “Girl?” Then the horse calmed down. 

“Wow,” Neveah exclaimed petting the pegasus in front of her. Her current situation was so surreal that She never really imagine to met a pegasus. Suddenly the pegasus walked away from her. Neveah was confused but she widen her eyes when the pegasus showed her what was behind the giant creature. A shiny sword was plunged into the rock. And, Neveah notices the crest on the handle of the sword. It was small but she can depict that it was a pair of silver wings.  Neveah can’t help but stare at it. She was mesmerized. The pegasus was behind the stone looking down at her as if saying that she should be the one to take out the sword. 

Neveah stared at the pegasus and then at the sword, “This s**t has really finally gone into me.” She said with wide eyes.
