Chapter 55: Lucas Eastwood

1963 Words
I sat in the storage room. Leaning my head on the wall. I ignore my gym teacher’s scream telling my new classmates to gather around. I felt lazy and did not want to interact with them. Not that they also want to interact with me. I plucked out my phone in my pocket and scroll through my music playlist. I plugged my earbuds and connect them to my phone. Picking a random song I did not care if what type it is as long it makes me sleep. And, because of it, I feel my drowsiness seeping through me as I went to my dreamland. “Lucas?” “Lucas?” A faint voice calling me from somewhere and I don’t who or where it was.  “Lucas?” The voice echoes throughout my entire surrounding. Everything was pitch black and the only thing that was making me sane was the voice. It was familiar.  My face scrunched as the voice kept getting far away. My instincts told me to follow and so I did even though I was blinded by the darkness that surrounds me. It was pitch black but it's like I know where to go as I follow the familiar voice. But when I realized and identify whose voice was it I halted in my steps. The familiar gentle voice that I used to love hearing was now making me furrow my brows in anger.  Heaven, Heaven, My own Heaven The familiar lullaby echo through the entire surrounding. I unconsciously remember the vivid memories I had shared with the owner of the voice. Her gentle touch and her warm embrace were making me miss her but I don't want to admit it. I stood there with my eyes open but still can’t see anything. Suddenly, a spark was visible not far away from me. The spark then turns into fire. I was surprised as I adjust my vision because of the bright light. I rubbed my eyes but I noticed that my hands were as small as a kid's hand and then I unconsciously raised my head and saw a mirror reflecting what I looks like. A young boy maybe ages 4-5 years old was staring me at the mirror. The fire that was in front of me was now placed behind me. I was wearing the same school uniform as I had before I changed into my gym clothes. But the odd thing is it was in a kids version. I look into my body and into the mirror once again. “I am truly a 5-year-old kid” I somehow blurted out the words and it echo in the entire place. But then I notice my eyes. It wasn’t the same color as my usual one. It made me feel chills on my entire body. My hair still looks like I had now but my eyes. Crimson Red painted my irises as it glows over the fire behind me. “Lucas,”  The usual gentle voice of a woman was now replaced by a deep one. It was deep as an underground cave. His voice echoes throughout the entire place. The mirror that I was looking at was nowhere to be seen as if weren't there, to begin with. However, The fire was still here giving me light in this pitch-black darkness. I wander my eyes looking for the unfamiliar voice. “Whose there?” I slightly cringe as my voice also turns into a high-pitched one. I frantically turn my head searching for the voice but I did not dare to leave the fire. I stood there feeling my legs tremble like a little kid. ‘Well, I am indeed a little kid right now,’ “Lucas,”  With one last call to my name. A pair of glowing huge golden eyes appeared in the pitch darkness. I stumbled upon my feet and landed on my butt. The eyes were as huge as my little body. I am somehow relieved that I was far away from the glowing eyes. The fire did not do any justice in revealing his form or his face. I backed away slightly, not too far from the light of the fire. I stared at the glowing eyes as he stares at me and then I remember a quote, ‘If you gaze long into an abyss, an abyss will gaze back at you,’. “Lucas,” His deep voice as he calls out to me made me slightly flinch. “ What do you want from me?” I said gathering my courage. I never imagined I can be this scared ever since I was a little kid. ‘I am a kid,’ I thought reminding myself. I feel a gush of air hit me coming from the glowing eyes. ‘Did he exhale?’ I look at him horrified and then the fire. How come the fire was not blown out. I almost stumble with just one exhale so how did the fire survive?. I look back at the glowing eyes and then I realize. A sudden epiphany as I look at the shape and form of the eyes. I hesitated was fighting with my thought but I definitely read about these shapes of eyes before. A famous rapper has these eyes that made everyone praise and adore him because of it. Why do I know this? Claude can’t stop blabbing about it. “Dragon eyes…” I blurted out after a deep moment of silence between the two of us. The fire then began to light much brighter than before. This made me panic and stare at the fire horrified. “What’s happening?!” I shouted at him but as usual, he did not answer. Even if I’m panicking the eyes keep staring at me nonchalantly. I find it weird and uncomfortable so I asked again in a much more angry tone. I can totally imagine myself squeaking like a small mouse. “Lucas,” He called me out again and this time I was frustrated. “DUDE IF YOU WANNA SAY SOMETHING SAY  IT DON'T CALL MY NAME LIKE AN i***t FOR SEVERAL TIMES!” I yell at the top of my tongues. As the last word fall into my mouth the echoes turned to do their magic.  The eyes were stunned, I can tell because of its irises. Well, it deserves him tho. “Please calm yourself, have some banana,” He said with a deep voice and a banana came appearing out of thin air and landed on my head. I caught it with my hand and grip it,’ what does he thinks I am? A rampaging gorilla?’ I thought. Realizing what I was thinking my mind then went to the creator of that name. I clicked my tongue and this caught the attention of the creature in front of me. I crossed my arms and glared straight to his eyes, “What do you want? Am I in a dream?” I asked wanting his answers this time. His eyes wander before looking at me. “Yes,” I felt a sense of relief I thought he kidnapped me.  “Then, what do you want?”  “You, Lucas,” It said this made me raise my brows. “What do you mean by that?” I asked as I took a step forward concluding that he is not harmful. “I want you to be kinder, please. Don’t just punch everyone who pisses you off.” The eyes said this made me scratch my head. I was about to refuse his statement when he cut me off. “This fire is something that is burning inside you.” He continued. “ As you grow up, it lits much brighter and the day will come when you have to use it. It may not be easy but you’ll get by  just fine.” As he said those words embers flew into the air and form and play some kind of scene and some people that I can't comprehend who/  And, I realize maybe he was showing me the future. I look back at him. “This fire can be dangerous. It’s up to your decision if you use it for harm. But I believe you will use this warm to protect those who you care,” He said, his golden glowing eyes still staring straight into my soul. A moment of silence passed by before I could swallow what he said. “WHAT?!” I shouted in anger and it seems my original voice came back. When I noticed it I look into my body and sees that I was in my original shape and form. A 15-year-old teenage kid. I smile suddenly forgetting my confusion about what he said. I clear my throat and look at him again, “What do you mean by all this?” I snarled at him but he did not give me the exact response to my question. “It seems that it’s time to go back.” “Back where?” Everything he said made me confused even more and I tried to squeeze out answers from him. “ Lucas Eastwood, You have been abandoned but not forsaken. The mother of it was still looking after you even if she went into the wrong path.” Everything he said Is a riddle and I don't understand any single thing he spoke. “Lucas I believe you will guide the Great with your light. Farewell for now,” When he said that my body levitates and a cool wind brushes me off high above. But I haven't had my answers yet so I swayed my hand hoping to grab onto something, “Wait-What do you mean by that? Who are you?” I shouted as I tried my best not to be taken off by the wind. “You might forget this encounter Lucas but I will not, for you are a bringer of light. You can save many with your fire.” His voice echoes deep as the glowing light slowly fades away and I slowly flew away. The familiar Lullaby can be heard again. Heaven, Heaven, My own Heaven In the dark, In the dark Turns into night The wind blows in me and touches my skin All my love, All my love You should always bring I jolted awake at the sound of my gym teacher screaming about how my classmates played. I rubbed my eyes as I adjust them because of the brightness seeping out on the small window above the storeroom. I clicked my tongue and force myself to get up. I pick up my phone that somehow fell to the ground. I look at the time and there are still more minutes until gym class would be over. I clicked my tongue and scratched my head. I walked out of the storage room and saw my gym teacher approaching someone sitting on the bench. ‘Maybe I could excuse myself and sleep in the infirmary,’ I walk towards her. When I got closer I noticed a stray ball that was going towards the guy on the bench. With my fast reflexes, I blocked the ball with my arm standing behind that person. ‘s**t’ I cuss as the ball hits me and bounces in another direction. Everyone stayed silent and the man sitting in front of me turned his head. “Lucas?” He blurted it out and somehow, though, I don't want to admit since I've been experiencing weird s**t, A vibrant color green irises appear and swirl in his eyes and then vanish. I stared at him for a second and concluded that it was just the trick of the light. “Larcade!”
