Lucas was on the terrace of Larcade's room dialing his father's phone. Lucas waited for his father to pick up as he leaned his arms on the railing. He pursed his lips as he heard the other side ring. A sudden recall of memories appeared in his mind
"You are Deniera's first born!"
He grinds his teeth at the thought and unconsciously recalls the memories when he was a child. " Hello? " A familiar voice answered the phone but it wasn't his father. "Claude?" He said. "I call dad?" He continued. "Yeah? But I answered?" He replied. Lucas just rolled his eyes at his brother’s answer. “So how’s camping? Is it fun?” Claude said in the other line with amusement laced on his voice. Lucas scoffed at this and smiled. He imagined his brother’s face. He was pretty sure that his brother had a smile plastered on his face right now. Suddenly his face turned serious. “Claude,” He called out and the other line was silent. Claude felt his voice was serious so he did not have an ounce to tease or make a joke on his brother.
“Have you ever thought of wanting to meet her?” Lucas' voice was sad. Claude raised his brows at what he heard. He never really looked at his brother as a serious type and he always made fun of him whenever his brother would get a chance. “Who?” Claude asked with confusion. Well he did have a slight feeling on who is ‘her’ but he also wants to hear it from his own brother’s mouth. There was silence after and Lucas’s breathing sound was heard. “What’s the point of asking such a confusing question, Lucas?!” Claude shouted and his brother leaned his phone away in his ear. “I know! I know---Shut up! You don’t have to shout,” Lucas said, feeling his brother’s frustration. “I said who?!” Even though the call wasn’t in speaker mode , Claude’s voice was so loud that even Neveah and Damian could hear it.
Neveah stared at Lucas and the said guy mouthed sorry. “ Is it about our Mother?” Claude interrupted Lucas. His brother was silent after he asked that question. “Then no,” Lucas can feel the coldness of his younger brother’s voice. ‘Thought so’ He smirked before sighing. “Why do you ask? What? Is it her leaving anniversary?” He can feel his sarcasm through the phone. “Hey, don’t be like that,” Lucas said and he could hear Claude scoff. “I saw father looking down, staring at her photo,” Lucas was not able to continue his sentence. He was surprised to hear what his father had been doing. “Did he miss her?” It was the only thing Lucas had in mind. Claude shrugged even though Lucas could not see it, “How am I supposed to know?” He said in a laid back tone. “Just answer the question,” Claude sighed before doing so, “ I don’t know, he avoided my question,”
Both of them went silent after that. Lucas pursed his lips. He was debating himself if he would tell him that their mother might still be alive. “So why are we talking about her now?” Claude asked. Lucas opened his mouth but closed it, deciding to leave the information only to him. Claude’s behavior toward the conversation says it all, he did not want to meet his mother. Lucas sighed and chuckled. “Nothing, it just came into my mind,” He answered. “You are really weird,” His answer made Lucas frown. ‘This brat’
“ how did you even get a signal there? Where are you camping, anyways?” Claude said in the other line and Lucas mentally panicked on what he's going to say. “Uhm, Just a random forest,” He said. Neveah heard it and facepalmed, ‘He’s never gonna believe it’ She thought, rolling her eyes. “What?” Claude asks. “Ok I’m going to hang up now! Tell Dad I'm fine and we’re doing great,” He said. Claude was about to say something but Lucas ended the call quickly. “Just a random forest? You know you;re dad’s gonna get worried more if Claude tol him,” Neveah said when Lucas approached back to his chair. Lucas sighed. “Since he really never agrees for you in such a dangerous activity!” Neveah said mocking and Lucas kicked her chin.
Meanwhile, Claude looked at his Dad’s phone in confusion, “Bastard hung up on me,” He hissed. “Who was that?” His father came out from the bathroom. “Lucas,” He answered while putting his father’s phone down. “Is he okay?” Drystan said worry evident in his voice. “He’s better than ok,” Suddenly a ding on Claude’s phone notified him. “Dad! Imma go to the city for a bit, I will come home later!” He said and bid goodbye to his father. Drystan was about to stop him but Claude already slammed the door shut. Drystan sighed and gave up.
Claude went to the city with a bus. The moment he got off on the public transportation he saw his friends in a nearby cafe, sitting outside under the shade of a parasol. His friends waved at him and he immediately crossed the road, looking out for some cars. He slapped his friend's palms and sat down on an empty seat. “You took too long. i***t!” A girl said. She had these wavy brown locks. She wears a cream colored knitted crop top sweater and some pleated brown skirts. “Shut up, Riley,” Claude retorted. “I was talking to my brother on the phone,” He said as he snatched one of his friend’s drinks. “Hey! That’s mine, i***t,” A man with a chicken style cut shouted. His appearance was average, not too ugly nor too handsome, his brown skin contributes to his manly features. He was one of Claude’s friends, Shane. “Hey stop that,” A smooth voice said and Claude looked at his side. He had a black hair that covered his forehead. Shane looked at him with a knowing smile and the guy beside Claude kicked his feet under the table. The guy beside him was named Azrael. “Enough of that, so how bout your brother? Why are you talking on the phone? Is he gone?” Lots of questions were thrown at Claude that he could not help but to frown. “What the-- Riley are you still crushing on my brother?” He said glaring at the girl. “And so? He’s the one I like, not you,” She replied. “It’s creepy,” Claude said and the girl in front of him hit his head.
“What’s creepy about that?!” She shouted. “Anyways, where are we going today? Coin Karaoke sounds nice?” Azrael suggested changing the topic. The rest of them nod, “Sounds cool, I brought change incase,” Shane grinned widely. Riley rolled her eyes at her friend but a figure caught in her eyes. When she realized who it was he immediately grabbed Claude’s arm and shook it. Claude furrowed his eyebrows and started to get annoyed, “What?” His question made Riley and Azrael look at them, “Look! Look!” Riley said, still staring behind him. Claude looked behind and he saw a familiar tall male crossed the road. He widened his eyes, “It’s your crush!” Claude's face flushed as he heard it and quickly covered Riley’s mouth.
Azrael looked at his two friends and slightly frowned. His attention was broken at them when Shane patted his back, he glared at the said guy and he retracted his hands. “Ri! Shut up!” He said. Riley rolled her eyes and forcefully pushed him to remove his hands. “Calypso!” She shouted and Claude did not know what to do and just buried his head onto the table. The said guy Riley called, looked at them and waved at her. He crossed the street, “Hi guys!” He greeted her with a grin. Shane raised his arms and replied to him, “Hi Cal!” The said guy looked at him and panned his head to Azrael who just nodded. He then noticed Claude who was buried in his arms. Calypso slightly widens his eyes at his behavior. Riley looked at this and covered her mouth to stop herself from squealing. Calypso smiled and leaned into his ear, “Hi Claude,” He whispered and the said guy jolted sitting up while covering his ear that Calypso whispered. Azrael’s frown became bigger. Claude’s face flushed when he turned around to look at Calypso right in front of his face. His smile was entrancing the poor teenager that he could not process what was happening. “Hi?”
Calypso laughed at this and stood upright, “So what you guys doin?” Calypso said while burying his hands in his jacket’s pocket. “ Just hanging out,” Riley replied. “We’re going to a coin karaoke? Wanna come?” Riley asked him. Azrael furrowed his eyebrows at this and Shane noticed his friend’s menacing aura. “What?!” “What?” Both Calypso and Claude said. Riley laughed at her friend’s flushed face. “Just come,” Riley said as he hooked up her arms to Calypso’s. “Let’s go!”
