Chapter 29: Loyalty of Two

Neveah, Lucas, and Larcade were putting their guard up as they stare at Alex. He was smirking that made them feel chills on their spine. 

“Can I ask a question?” He said while he fixed his glasses. “You are already doing it.” Neveah can’t help but open her mouth. Larcade blocked her mouth preventing him to put fuel into the fire. 

Alex ignored what they’re doing and continue to ask, nonetheless. “You have something special inside you. What is that?” Alex looks into Larcade’s eyes. 

“What do you mean?” Alex stared at him with a surprised expression. “ You don’t know?”  Alex asked. ‘This guy is one of that Demon’s friends, I didn’t really expect him to journey with humans but this guy.’

Suddenly, Lucas and Neveah step in front of Larcade. The person behind them widen his eyes in confusion. He put his hands on both of their shoulders. “Guys? Why you sticking infront of me like a lasagna?” Larcade said but Lucas and Neveah were too busy guarding himup and decided to just ignore him.

Lucas and Neveah’s starrea at Alex was so intense that even Alexander can’t help but gulp.’These pesky humans sure are brave enough. Alex was about to move his hands planning to scare them a little but Lucas grabbed his arms stopping him. 

“Oh? What’s this?” Alex said in amusement. “I think you forgot, I’m not an ordinary human at all.” Alexander removed Lucas gripped so easily. Lucas' expression was laced with surprise. Neveah and Larcade’s jaw dropped. ‘How strong is this guy?’ Without any hint of hesitance, Lucas gives a jab at Alexander’s face. Alex staggered, removing his hands on Lucas’ arms. 

He groaned because of the pain. Neveah was surprised by Lucas' actions. Neveah smirked when he saw Alex’s reaction. She dashed before him, raising his right leg. Alex noticed Neveah and raised both of his arms protecting himself. Neveah’s leg hit Alex’s arms.

Larcade stood there with his eyes wide and jaw dropped.He suddenly recalls his two companions. He stared at  Lucas. He was a well known athlete at his school. A boxer champion that brings pride to his school.  While Neveah was renowned black belter. 

Lucas didn’t waste any time to attack once again after Neveah. He throws a hook at Alex’s side. Alex was having trouble on escaping their attack when Lucas and Neveah bombard him with kicks and punches.

Larcade stared at them horrfified now realizing that these two are not someone you can mess with easily. In a matter of seconds, Alex regained his composure. Grabbing Lucas’s hands and Neveah’s leg, he lifts them up so easily. Lucas and Neveah widen their eyes on his strength. 

Neveah grabbed his hand trying to remove it but before she can successfully do it, she felt herself flying further away from him. Lucas and Neveah realized that Alex threw them. Larcade gasped in shock. 

“What is this after you attack me, you’re here sharing jokes on each other? I’m not even done yet.” The three of them flinched when they heard Alexander’s voice again.Neveah fell to the ground. She groaned and winces in pain. Lucas was able to land perfectly. Lucas focuses his attention on Alex. His appearance was haggard. ‘ Our attacks were getting through him’ 

Larcade went to Neveah helping her get up. “s**t that bastard is so strong.” She complained while holding her scratched arms. “Are you okay? He threw both of you like some piece of garbage bags” Larcade said frantically. Worried about his cousin and Lucas. 

Lucas get up and so did Neveah. “You two maybe should wait for Damian,” Larcade said in a worried tone. “We can’t.” Lucas’s expression was full of determination. “Damian is currently fighting his own battle.” When he said that, Larcade panned his head to Damian. And he was indeed busy fighting the remaining enemies. ‘Three of them, he’s situation is much more troublesome than ours’ Larcade thought. “And, besides, this fucker is targetting us.”

“But he is a being capable of doing supernatural things while Neveah and Lucas are only normal beings.’ Larcade gulps down his saliva while watching Lucas and Neveah’s backs. Larcades eyebrows clashed. This is what he feared the most.

Having the people surrounding him hurt because of his situation makes him feel guilty and regretful. Lucas and Neveah are fighting because of him. This made him frustrated. “Why don’t you just stay out of it?” Larcade unconsciously says. This caught the two’s attention. They looked at each other before turning their heads to Lucas. 

Neveah smiled bitterly. She pats her cousin’s head. “I won’t do the same mistake I did 15 years ago.” Larcade stared at Neveah’s eyes. It was filled with sadness. “I won’t leave you. We will defeat this problem together.” She said with a grin, flexing her arms.

“ Neveah’s right.” Lucas started. A slight blush was visible on his face. “And, besides, I would never turn down on someone who wants to pick a fight.”  Lucas smiled at Larcade reassuringly. Larcade’s eyes welled up in tears. He felt grateful for having such friends. 

“Wow, you are really the same rampaging gorilla back in high school.” Neveah teased Lucas to ease the situation. This made Lucas twitch in annoyance. “Shut up brawns for brains!” They started to bicker which made Larcade laugh.

 They slowly panned their heads in the direction of the voice. And, there he is. 

Alex was standing there, like a titan ready to devour them. Lucas took a stance and so did Neveah. “ I don’t know how but I noticed that our attacks that we did a while ago were getting through him,” Lucas informed Neveah. “ If we could do it again maybe there’s a chance that we can defeat him.”   Neveah grinned and nodded.

They dashed to Alex. Neveah threw a roundhouse kick at Alex but he successfully dodged it. Alex raised his arms planning to do the same thing he did but Neveah turned his body and used his left leg to hit Alex’s side. Even though Neveah’s left leg wasn’t her dominant one, Neveah still give her best. 

When she landed on the ground she crouched down to make the way for Lucas. Alex raised his arms in a protective manner but unfortunately for him, Lucas was able to hit his face. Alex’s glasses shattered because of the power. He then gave Alex a jab then a cross move. After that, he gave him a hook. 

At this point, Alex’s face was full of bruises. His nose started to bleed. Alex was completely eaten by these two. Alex might have special abilities but his lack of capability in fighting was completely losing him down. Lucas took his stance again and gave him a powerful uppercut that hit his chin.

Because of the impact, Alex was sent flying. Lucas huffed because of the excessive movements that he made. Neveah runs to his side wrapping her arms on his neck. Lucas was forced to bend down because of their difference in height. 

“Dude! How the f**k did you do that?” Neveah’s eyes were sparkling while locking his eyes at Lucas. 

He smiled awkwardly also not knowing how he did that. He looked at his bruised hands. ‘It happen again’ He thought. The strength that he felt when they were fighting Hyen was what he felt when fighting Alex. It was very peculiar for Lucas since he never felt anything when he fought normal people. 

Larcade smiled triumphantly not until he caught something at the corner of his eyes. His expression turned horror as he moved his head to the left. Alex’s hands were now wrapped in metal. The shape was as sharp as a sword. His face was full of rage as he watch Lucas and Neveah converse without care. 

Before he could rush to the two, Larcade run off in front of them. Lucas and Neveah have no time to react when they saw Alex coming at them at full speed. His metal sword aimed at Larcade. 

What comes next was a blur. Everything was so fast for the three. Before Alex can stab Larcade. A green forcefield once again appeared before them. Larcade with his hands held up was emitting a vibrant green aura. His eyes widen what he realized what he’s done. 

His throbbing heart was loud enough that Larcade can hear it. But it was different. It was loud but it was not coming from the right side of his chest but the opposite. Another heart was beating and it made Larcade sense shivers down his spine.
