Chapter 23: Human Experiments

“I still can’t believe I got my hands on these powerful experiments!”

 Nekane’s voice was loud, every scientist in the lab can hear him. Nekane sat in a chair that was offered to him. A clipboard filled with information and data analysis about the five survivors, Nekane flipped and read all of them. 

Naki Rodriguez 

Gender: Male

- Received the 8th apostle’s blood. Attributes:

Attributes: His power makes him control an elastic whip made out of light. 

Ava ‘Vich 

Gender: Female.

-received 8th apostle’s blood.  

Attributes: are the same as Nakin, however, her elastic whip is made out of pure shadows.

Alexander Limton. 

Gender: Male 

-Received 10th apostle’s blood.

 Attributes: Can produce metal in his left arm, differing in size and shape, he can use this as a weapon.

Nekane hummed when he flip onto the next page. He was uncertain about what he read. Putting his index finger to his chin. He stared at the paper for a second. The information on the paper has a visible Number Five. His eyes panned to the picture. Two heads in one body are smiling widely at the camera. ‘Conjoined twins?’ 

Eve and Lyn Marcus

Gender: Female.  Conjoined since birth. 

-Received a demon’s blood.  

Attribute: ???

“Curious,” Nekane muttered under his breath. 

It was a shame for Nekane not having attention to the twins. It was peculiar, he was sure that they were just standing in the corner of the room, not moving an inch but yet somehow, they manage to kill a life and passed the test. Nekane felt a sense of pride. Having these experiments made him reassured and feel stronger than the higher apostles above him. He believes that having a stronger army can surely make him the winner. Nekane flip to the last page and saw the blonde kid that he was interested in.

Loki

Gender: Male. Received 8th apostle and a demon’s blood. 

 Attributes: are the same as Damian, the escaped prisoner. Although, his magic core is not stable to withstand very powerful magic, with a proper check-up he can be invincible.

Nekane smiled throughout the whole information. He found himself a very special lackey and he has no intention of letting it go. Nekane flips back to the twins and then back to Lokis information sheet. ‘Two powerful experiments.’ He thought. ‘How Lucky can I be?’

Meanwhile, the five patients were led by a scientist. On their way, to a room to get changed. The five of them walked silently. No one dared to talk.

 “Here are some clothes for you to change, pick the one you like. After you changed, please proceed to the main room. I assume that you already know where it is.” The scientist looks at them with a glare. 

All of them sense her discomfort. Naki clicked his tongue feeling annoyed, wishing that she would leave immediately. And, his wish does come true when the scientist looks at them one last time before going out.

 “What’s, wrong with her?” Naki ruffled his hair.

 The twins noticed his behavior and smile knowingly.

 “Disgusted. Being in the same place with humans probably makes her churn.” Alex said fixing his glasses. All of them rummage through the big closet filled with different styles of clothing. 

“What do they think of us, some kind of filth?” Naki’s voice filled the entire room. Alexander sigh. 

“They already treat us like lab rats, what do you expect a supernatural being to act?” Loki said, his back facing the others.

 “So, suck it up.” He glanced at them with a deadpan expression before walking away heading into a small room to change. 

“Huh?!?” Naki said as his eyes followed Loki. 

“What the f**k is wrong with that guy?” Naki asked Alexander, clinging onto the hems of his clothes. 

“Is he picking a fight or something cuz I'm up for it?!”

“No, he’s just stating a fact.” Alexander swats Naki’s hands. Clutching his chosen clothes, he looked at the remaining people in the room. 

“They are supernatural beings who can do unexplained things, were merely their lab rats and soon to be their guard dogs.” Alexander fixed his glasses before continuing, 

“ We should suck it up.” He said walking away. 

The entire room fell silent. They don’t want to admit it but both of them were right. All five of them just got their powers and all of the people here got it ever since they were born. And all of them know, what will happen if they ever defy them. It would be hell.

It took them a while to change their clothes and gather in the main room. They were surprised when there was no one inside. Didn’t want to spark any trouble they decided to wait. All of them fell silent not wanting to converse with each other. After an hour of waiting, half of them were frustrated.

 “How much do we have to wait?!” Naki was the one who snapped first.

 Alexander beside him flinches, glancing at him completely disturbed. Naki marched towards the door. All of them followed their eyes on him. Suddenly the door swung open, making Naki halt in his steps. He faced a big bulky man with hats and shades, looking down at him. 

Nekane stared at him before glancing behind Naki. He took notice of Loki and the twins who were sitting facing opposite from each other. Nekane grinned. He passed by Naki in which Naki hung his head low afraid to meet his eyes once again. Two guards who were behind Nekane offered Nekane a chair in which he gladly sits. 

Sitting down with his legs crossed. His entire presence filled up the entire room and no one dared to talk. His guard took out papers on a briefcase, give them to Nekane who put them on the coffee table. All eyes stared into the paper. 

“Now that all test was successful. I want you to work. I don’t want you lollygagging in my stead.” He said being straightforward. 

“ Find this rat as soon as possible or it would be off with your head.” H said with a grin.

‘Is he the red queen?’ Naki thought but not daring to say it out aloud. 

“So you give us the job after finally being released from your experiments?” Ava said with a tone of disbelief.

 “Then what do you want?” Nekane asked her, which made her smile she opened her and was about to say something. Suddenly Nekane’s big left hands wrapped around Ava’s think neck, choking her. 

“If you want to be a princess, maybe you’ll better be off dead.”  Ava squirmed on his grasp, Naki, Alex widened their eyes in horror. The twins chuckle at her desperation. 

“ Please….Spare me…” Ava said between chokes. Nekane decided to just let her go, swat her like a fly, making her contact with the wall, resulting in a bang.

 Ava who was no longer a human was not affected by the now cracked walls, instead, she coughed up breathing for air as she touch the bruised marks on her neck. “Anyone who defies me again will never see the light of day.” Nekane’s loud voice resonates in the entire room.

 “ Be a good dog and do what I say.” He said with a huff. Loki stared at the scene in front of him being nonchalant of the ruckus.

‘When can I get out?’ He thought getting bored. He slightly flinched when a hand touched his shoulders. Looking up he saw Nekane looking down on him with his infamous grin. ‘He looks like a darn pervert.’ He moved to avoid his touch feeling crept out. Nekane then glance at the twins in which they waved their hands enthusiastically.

 “ Do the job.” His last words laced with stern he left the room with his guard.

“Ava! Are you okay?” Alex panickily marched down on Neveah who was still regaining his composure. Alex looks around to find water for her. Offering her the water, Ava immediately took the glass and drank it hoping to let it ease his sore throat. 

“That bastard!” Naki who was just standing there cursed the man. With a scowl, he stared at her, with pity.

“Why?” Two voices said in unison all three of them panned their head to the owner. 

On the couch there sit the twins. Eve and Lyn smiled at them, casually.

 “Why cursed him when she deserved to be treated like that?” They said. 

All three of them saw something evil in both of their eyes. “What the hell did both of you say, you bitches?!” Ava said. 

Furious, she marched heading in the twins' direction. Nevertheless, The twins just smiled at her, ignoring her furious nature.

“You refused the master’s orders. So, you should expect to be punished.” Both of them said with a chuckle.

 Ava’s brows furrowed. Feeling creeps by the two twins, she raised her left arms sidewards. A black whip appeared on her arms, slowly crawling on her flesh. The twin followed it with their eyes. “So we’re doing this?” With a wave of her arms, her shadow whip trapped the twins. Her whips clutch onto the twin’s body.

The twins laughed when the whip gripped harder. “Ava!” Alex tried to stop her but to his dismay, Ava just ignored him. Too mad to bother him. 

“ I’m going to teach this bitches some lesson, that they won’t forget.” She said glaring at the twins. Eve and Lyn’s shoulders start moving and a cackle was heard. Suddenly an invisible force cut all of her whips releasing the twins.

Ava who felt pain when her whip was cut off, yelp with a hiss. Alex pulled her, backing away. “What the hell just happen?” Naki said confused and shocked.

 The twins stand on their feet, panning their heads to stare at the three of them. Suddenly a violent force got in between Naki, Ava, and Alex. A small cut was seen on their cheeks after, blood trickled down. All of them winced because of the small wound. 

Eve and Lyn Marcus. 

Gender: Female.  Conjoined since birth. 

-Received a demon’s blood. 

 Attribute: Energy Manipulation. Can use the kinetic energy around the 5-meter radius. Both of them can harm people with just wind. The more people moved around them the more they can store energy and make a good blast of their power.

Alex finally realized why Nekaned always wanders his eyes to the twins. This twin is capable of harming the three of them without them realizing it. Alex gritted his teeth. Not knowing what to do. Their magical aura suddenly surrounds the entire room. All three of them felt the powerful pressure, making them gulp. 

“Oops! Our bad. Didn’t mean that.” They said with a giggle contracting their powers.

 “Now all of it is resolved,” Lyn said. “I hope you don’t do that again.”  They said with a sincere smile. 

“We are not usually merciful to people who foolishly attack us like that.” Their expressions changed in an instance. The three of them shivered. 

“All of you are below us.”

Then both of them smiled again. After that they moved their body, turning around behind them.

 “Oh?” Both of them said in unison. 

Naki, Alex, and Ava were curious as to why she reacted like that. They moved their body to the side to see what she’s looking at.

 “Where’s Loki?” They said their expression dropped. The said man who was sitting on the couch a while ago was no longer be found. All of them stared at the empty couched also wondering like the twins. 

While the remaining five were fighting in the room. Loki escaped headed to the rooftop with the information papers that Nekane gave them, in his hands. A gush of wind blows into Loki’s, messing his hair. He covered his mouth with his collar. He viewed the city street below him. He realized he had never seen the city for 20 years but even so he never missed it. His memories on the streets were so unpleasant that he wished for them to disappear. He did miss one thing though.  

“??? why aren’t you eating? Mommy would be sad. Look Dad is anticipating too!”
