Danielle didn’t move. The words blood oath still echoed in her ears, heavy as iron. She shook her head slowly. “You said I can’t break the Veilstone yet.” Briar’s eyes glittered. “You can’t destroy it yet. But you can still learn how.” Danielle narrowed her gaze. “And you’ll just teach me? Out of the goodness of your heart?” Briar let out a sharp laugh. “Oh, sweetheart, no. I’m not a goodness of the heart sort of girl. I’m doing this because it suits me.
