Seth’s gaze didn’t waver. He leaned in just a little closer, his voice steady, like he was laying out simple facts. “You care about me, want me to be mostly happy, enjoy spending time with me, and think about me when we’re not together.”
She opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Her heart was racing, her thoughts scattered like leaves in the wind. This wasn’t supposed to be happening. She was supposed to be in control, not caught up in... whatever this was.
