They walked off the field in a slow drift, the adrenaline still buzzing just under their skin. Danielle twisted the cap off her water bottle and took a long drink, then shot a glance toward Connor, who was wiping sweat from his brow with the hem of his shirt. Seth lingered a few steps behind, toweling sweat from the back of his neck. “So,” she said, voice light but pointed, “how did things go with Christina?” Connor’s expression tightened slightly. His features didn’t shift much, but something about his posture changed. He seemed tense.
