Danielle didn’t move when the door opened again. She barely had the energy to lift her head, but the familiar cadence of Christina’s cautious footsteps gave her enough will to glance up. Christina peeked in first, followed closely by Seth—stoic as ever, expression unreadable. His eyes swept the room before settling on Danielle, his jaw tightening just a little.
