Danielle opened her eyes and immediately noticed three things. She was a wolf. Rowan was nearby her. And she was in a very messy, very small apartment. The floorboards creaked beneath her paws, littered with debris and scraps of paper. A faint smell of mildew and rotting food hung in the air. The counters were cluttered with unwashed dishes, mugs coated with rings of old coffee, and stray bits of dried food. Dust clung to corners, and the faint hum of a refrigerator buzzed unevenly somewhere near the wall. Light filtered weakly through dirty blinds, slanting across the cluttered space in thin, mottled lines. This was a dream. Rowan had said they would dream about Mason.
