“What is happen- urgh!” She clenched her teeth as intense pain shot through her again. She shot a harsh glare at Seth.

Another wave of pain pulsed through Danielle, before she could process it. Eyes clenched shut, she fell to her hands and knees, hissing through her teeth.
When the pain subsided, she opened her eyes, staring at her hands.
No. No, no, no. It couldn't be real.
Her nails had grown darker. Thicker. Longer. Pointier. There was a light dusting of hair coming out of her skin. She shook her head in disbelief.
It's not real. This couldn't be happening. Not real. Not real. NOT REAL!
Seth gasped.
She opened her eyes and watched as her nails returned to normal and the hairs seemed to retract into her skin.
