HAZEL I couldn’t stop grinning victoriously. Even as my father slammed his fist against the conference table, red in the face and yelling something about rigged votes and manipulated minds, I remained perfectly composed while feeling a little dazed, and giddy underneath. It felt utterly surreal that I’d won. Against all odds and betrayal, I had actually won.
