Chapter One

The Tale of the Prophecy

Once Upon a time in a kingdom not so far away there was a king and a queen not just any ordinary king and queen, but the Alpha Lycian King and the hybrid vampire Queen. The most amazing thing about this couple was that they were one of a kind as she was the only one of her kind. The King and Queen lived a very peaceful and prosperous life that was until the former king brought to the kingdom, his second chance mate along with her son. The Kings father was eagerly excited to introduce his second chance mate to his son and their kingdom as he walked towards the table.

“Hello there, father what brings you all the way to the kingdom”? The King said while never taking his eyes off his mate.

“Well Alpha King I am here” ... he was saying before his son looked up cutting him off mid-sentence, “nonsense there is no need for all the formalities we are the only ones here dad”, the King said looking up at his dad.

“Well son I have some good news that I want to share with you, I think”, he said while looking at the King in acknowledgment, “I think that the moon goddess has finally blessed me with a second chance mate”, he hurriedly said before he could be interrupted again.

“Well, I think that is cause for a celebration don’t you think so darling”, the queen said lightly laughing.

“Well, I would have to say that is very great news dad and yes darling I do think that this is cause for a celebration”, the King said looking at his dad and mate with a huge smile on his face.

“Well, now that we have that out of the way when will we get a chance to meet this mate of yours”, said the Queen full of excitement.

“Now I reckon her, and her son are standing by outside in the hallway”, Tobias said walking back towards the diner room door. “I would like to introduce to you my second chance mate Erica Walters and her son Matthew Walters”.

“Well, it is an honor to meet you Erica and Matthew, my name is William, and this is my mate Kara”, William said while shaking both of their hands. “Will you be staying here with us for a couple of days Tobias or are you needing to head back to Creedmoor”, said Kara with a knowing look in her eyes.

“No, I do not need to get back to Creedmoor, remember this is the week that I was supposed to come up to visit, just so happens that I met my mate along the way”, Tobias stated hurriedly.

“Well now, there is no reason to be so hush hush or cryptic about it; Tobias, we have already had all of our discussions about our lives before we met each other, and I will not be upset with you just like you were not upset with me”, Erica stated looking at Tobias with nothing but pure genuine love in her eyes.

“Ok well since we don’t have to be hush hush about it, what is it that we are talking about”, said Matthew sitting in the corner.

“Well Matthew, my father's former mate and my mother may the moon goddess rest her soul, we are having a memorial set up later on today, per her wishes", William said looking at Matthew then to his dad.

“Now that I think about it, I wonder if she knew that on this day you would be introducing us to your second chance mate seeming’s that she has been gone for some time now” William wondered.

“Oh, I think that is a swell idea having something for the former Queen”, stated Erica while looking at Kara, “If there is anything that you might need help with, I am here if you need me”, she beamed.

“That is absolutely wonderful the only problem with that is that everything about this was already planned before I had even arrived here, but I think that there has to be something that we can do to contribute, don’t you think honey” Kara said looking at William with sad puppy dog eyes.

“Baby I am sure there is something that the two of you could do, I just don’t know what it is we will have to ask Mrs. Everly”, William said while hugging his mate.

One year later

“What would I need to do to have Queen Kara by my side”, Matthew said as he walked deeper into the woods.

“Well, well, well what do we have here, I think that you have wondered to far from your kingdom little prince”, said an unknown voice.

“Who is there and what do you want”? Matthew stuttered while looking around.

“Well, who I am is not important at this present moment, but what I want is very much of importance. I want your soul”, the voice said sounding really dark and evil.

“What the hell do you mean you want my soul”, Matthew yelled out at nothing.

“Well, you want the Queen to be by your side, but you have no way of making that happen with your stepbrother already being here mate and all, but for the small price of your soul”, he paused looking at me before continuing. “I can defiantly guarantee that when we are done you will not only have the Queen by your side, but you will also have the Kingdom bowing at your feet as well”, the voice said sounding even more sinister.

“What is in it for you if I agree”, Matthew said while still looking around.

“If you agree I will get your soul and the souls of both Kings past and present”, the voice said.

“But that is my mother's second chance mate, she would be devastated if anything were to happen to him”, Matthew stated sounding like he is losing all hope.

“Well then I guess you really don’t want the Queen by your side”, the voice said, “I guess that you are going to continue putting other people needs before yours, how about I sweeten the deal? Your soul, the past and present Kings souls, and I will make your wolf stronger than it has ever been before”, the voice continued.

“I don’t really give a f**k about the either of the Kings I just need to know that my mother will be alright after this is done”, stated Matthew.

“Your mother will be just fine no harm will come to her and I will make it seem like she never had Tobias for a mate”, the voice said.

“Then we have a deal what do I need to do”? said Matthew with this evil grin on his face.

“You will know when the time is right, I will send you signals that only you will be able to see and understand, oh and this”, the voice said while drawing some of Matthew's blood.

“What the f**k was that for, you never said anything about drawing my blood”, Matthew said while looking around, what do you need the blood for any ways”?

“How else did you think you were supposed to sign the contract, don’t worry everything will fall into place exactly how it is meant to”, the voice said walking away.

Walking back towards the pack grounds I ran right into Kara; dam if she is not the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life, what I would not give just to have her in my bed under me calling out my name instead of that stupid King’s. Deep in my own thoughts I had not even realized that Kara was standing right in front of me waving her hands in my face trying to get my attention. God, she smells good as hell like freshly baked apple pie.

“Hello anyone in there”, I heard Kara say with a light chuckle bringing me back to reality.

“Hey, I am so sorry Kara I didn’t see or hear you standing there”, I played it off like I was not just standing here thinking of all the many ways she would be calling out my name. “What are you doing out here without my brother”, I said trying to sound concerned, like I gave a dam about him.

“I was just out for a walk to clear my head had a really bad dream and I needed some time alone to get my thoughts together”, Kara said looking confused.

“What are you doing over here so close by the dead forest you know that this part of the forest is forbidden to be in, and oh my god what on earth happened to your hand”? She said looking worried.

“The what! Oh, I must have nicked my hand while I was running through the woods, sometimes me and my wolf like to go for runs at night to clear my head as well, why is it call the dead forest if you don’t mind me asking”, I stated looking confused.

“Well, it is said that this part of the forest holds all the evil spirits that didn’t make it up to Heaven”, she said; but I guess that is only if you believe in that kind of thing. “You don’t believe in that fable do you”? I said while looking her.

“No, I don’t but I do believe that evil lurks wherever there is someone who really wants something bad enough”, she said looking at the forest.

“I guess I can understand that, well I should be getting back in we have training in the morning at 5 am and I don’t want my brother thinking I'm trying to steal his mate”, I said sarcastically smiling at her.

“Ok well good night, Matthew”, I heard her say as I was walking off back into the house.

Good night my Queen I whispered walking in the door only to be met by the King himself. Rolling my eyes "Hey there brother how is everything going”? I asked while walking towards the stairs as fast as I could before he answered.

“All is well little brother”, I heard him say as I reached the floor where my room was located. I despise that man and this whole f*****g family I wish that they would all just f*****g die.
