Chapter Seven

"Is it just me or are business meetings always this exhausting" Brenda thought to herself glancing at her wristwatch as she had been seated in the same spot at the head of the table in the conference room for over two hours giving approvals and several opinions on how to go about this Year's FIRMFAIR.

Ross stood up front making a presentation and oh my was he so good at it.

Brenda dragged her tired eyes from Ross and scanned everyone in the room, everyone by the left side of the table seemed to be paying full attention to Ross, she turned her head over to her right and found Valerie with her eyes shifting from Ross to the Little book she was taking notes in.

Brenda moved her gaze from Valerie onto the person sitting next to her and then she froze.

"Damn!..... He's handsome" Brenda admitted to herself now fully concentrating on the young man who sat beside Valerie.

He had thick dark brown hair that curled softly around his ears and the nape of his neck, a pair of dark hazel eyes guarded with beautiful long lashes that flickered as he blinked in between seconds, he was definitely an attractive man.

He sat there unaware of her gawking innocently paying rapt attention to Ross.

Brenda never removed her eyes from him for even a milli second until she felt Valerie's hand give her a gentle tap on her knees from underneath the table.

She turned her head to Valerie who was now looking at her with wide eyes, Brenda frowned in a confused manner while Valerie c****d her head in Ross's direction.

Brenda sharply turned now brought back to consciousness only to find everyone including her newly found crush staring at her.

She blinked twice and cleared her throat fighting the urge to look in his direction again and get lost in his Hazel eyes that kept luring her like a magic spell.

"Do we have your permission to carry out with this project?" Ross repeated his initial question.

"Yes" Brenda replied

"Yes" She repeated clearing her throat when she realized her voice was only audible enough for her.

"Are you alright?"Valerie whispered when everyone's attention was finally back to Ross with concerned written over her still confused face.

Brenda simply replied her with a smile and firm nod before stealing one last glance at her new crush then fully concentrated on her board meeting after adjusting herself in her seat.

After what seemed like forever, the meeting was finally over and everyone wearing the same exhausted faces, disappeared out of the conference room into various offices in the building.

"I'll love to head out for lunch now, I'll be back in no time" Valerie informed Brenda as they now both sat alone in Brenda's office.

"Do you mind if I join you?" Brenda asked Valerie loosening her bow tie that sat perfectly on her neatly pressed light blue shirt Alexa insisted she wore this morning.

"Yeah.... Sure.... I'll call your driver" Valerie agreed immediately digging the pocket of her trouser for her cellphone in obvious determination to ring up Tyler.

"How far away is the restaurant?" Brenda inquired finally Setting her neck free from it's captive bow tie.

"It's roughly about two minutes drive and approximately five minutes on foot" Valerie informed her in full details.

"Let's take a little stroll to the restaurant then, let Tyler be for now" Brenda concluded rising up to her feet.

"But you shouldn't be........." Valerie tried to protest as Brenda locked her hand in hers and led her out of the office.

They took a few steps with both their heels hitting the Navy blue marble floor till Brenda came to an immediate halt and quickly pulled Valerie away with her and hid them both behind a tall wooden cabinet.

"Who's he?" Brenda asked whispering to Valerie as she peeped and c****d her head towards her crush from the board meeting standing up ahead in a discussion with a fellow colleague and his lovely deep Angelic voice that roared in his chest as he laughed beautifully made her wanna cry.

"Who?" Valerie asked poking out her head from behind the cabinet still trying to process what's going on.

"Careful he's going to see us" Brenda warned quickly pulling her back before someone sees her.

"Oh" Valerie simply replied now properly trying to stay hidden.

"Which of them?" Valerie asked as they both peeped at both men.

"Him. Uhhh....... Green shirt." Brenda quickly replied in a simple description.

"Oh... That's Randy, Randy Bryan." Valerie informed her studying the man on the green shirt.

"Randy Bryan" Brenda repeated momentarily trying out his name on her lips.

"Yeah, he is the current Head of Advertisement" Valerie added feeding Alexa with more information about Randy.

"Interesting..... Somebody get me a glass, 'coz I just found myself a nice drink of water" Brenda thought to herself smirking as she felt her body summersault even while she was slightly bent in her attempt at hiding.

"I probably should never say that line out loud though" Brenda inwardly warned herself laughing at her bad lines.

"How old is he?" Brenda suddenly asked Valerie intending to get all the information she can about him from her.

"Uhhhh......... I.. actually have.... no idea" Valerie gently replied briefly turning to face Brenda before returning her gaze back to Randy as they both pepped discreetly at him from behind the large cabinet.

"She has no idea?? She never doesn't have an idea about anything at all! Why now Valerie!" Brenda lamented to herself.

"He's so cute" Valerie commented after a long while of Studying his features as he openly conversed with a colleague.

"Nahhh....... He's not cute, he's hot! with a capital letter T!" Brenda replied placing her right hand on her chest and sighing loudly.

"Uhhhh..... Why's the letter T in capital? What does it mean?" Valerie asked looking back at Brenda with keen interest.

"It means, Take me home to your mama baby!" Brenda replied in a high pitched voice making emphasis on the first letter of her first word.

Valerie giggled at Brenda's theory covering her mouth with her hand so she doesn't draw anyone's attention to them and Brenda couldn't help but join her. They both giggled like gossiping high school girls until they were startled by a loud clearing of throat from directly behind them.

They both slowly turned back to find Ross gazing down on them with a raised brow.

"Are you both alright?" Ross finally asked when none of them said anything.

"Uhhhh Yeah...." Brenda replied clearing her throat standing up to her full length with Valerie standing closely beside her.

"What are you both doing hiding behind the cabinet?" Ross asked with an amused expression.

"We were........ Heading out for lunch" Brenda answered after shortly searching her head for something to say.

"Yes, lunch" Valerie added trying to sound a bit convincing.

"We should get going.... I'm so hungry" Brenda said with an unnecessary laughter signalling Valerie with her head to get moving.

"Enjoy your lunch" Ross called out after them as they both rushed off without saying another word, he reached up to the top of the cabinet and picked up a blue file, he glanced and chuckled at the girls as they hurried away with their heels making loud noises on the floor before he walked away heading back for his office.

"Uh oh! We got distracted by Ross that I totally forgot he was still standing here!" Brenda thought to herself as her eyes came in contact with his divine hazel pair with her walking suddenly becoming clumsy.

"He's looking at me! He's looking at me What do I do?" Brenda asked herself as they were now reaching so close to Randy and his Friend.

"Ignore him and walk by! I mean, you're his Boss.." A voice in her head suggested.

"No... That'll be rude" Brenda disagreed shaking off the thought.

"Stop by and say Hi" another voice in her head suggested.

"I'll probably just say something stupid" Brenda thought waving off the second idea.

"Trip and fall on him so he'll catch you, just like in the movies..... I mean you already feel clumsy, it wouldn't be too difficult." Another voice suggested

Brenda walked beside Valerie battling with the voices in her head not seeming to come to any good enough conclusion.

And then it was happening, their parts were about to cross.....

"What do I do? What do......?" Brenda was about to go in for a last minute session with the voices in her head till it happened.

"Oh my God! He waved at me!" Brenda screamed internally.

"You should wave back dummy!" A voice fiercely suggested.

She waved back and walked past them seeing as Valerie kept a straight face marching toward the elevator with great determination.

They finally got outside and Brenda released the breath she didn't realize she had been holding.

"He waved at you!" Valerie screamed giggling as they were a safe distance away from the building that held Large see through doors and windows.

"They both waved... So it feels normal." Brenda admitted now realizing that Randy's friend also waved as they passed by.

"It's a start, you should definitely talk to him" Valerie suggested now looking serious.

"We should definitely head for lunch" Brenda replied waving her off as they strolled down the busy sidewalks chatting and laughing about different things.

They returned back to the office several minutes later with their bellies packed full with Chicken and waffle fries.

They both concentrated on their work till Brenda decided she wanted to close for the day.

"Your driver has arrived" Valerie announced poking her head into Brenda's slightly opened door.

"Okay, enjoy the rest of your day, see you tomorrow." Brenda replied cheerfully stepping out of the office as Valerie shut the door behind them.

"You don't need to always walk me to my car Valerie, you're not my body guard okay?" Brenda added as Valerie walked passed her desk wanting to accompany her as usual.

Valerie flashed Brenda a smile and waved goodbye as she disappeared into the other side of the building.

Brenda's gaze hit the cabinet she and Valerie had hid behind and pursed her steps. She momentarily searched the whole environment for any sign of Randy and got at ease when she didn't spot him till she climbed down the elevator and left the building.

"Take me home" Brenda ordered Tyler as he held open the door for her to climb into the car.

"Yes ma'am" He curtly replied with a slight bow as he closed the door after she was comfortably seated in the back seat of the car.

The drive home was quiet and fast as she was home in a short while.

She walked into the house and found Alexa seatted by the dining with her laptop giggling loudly.

"Oh hey Brie, come over, it's Aunt Audry" Alexa called out after noticing her presence the moment she closed the door.

Brenda rushed over to where Alexa was on a Video call with their Aunt Audry.

"Hey Auntie!!!" Brenda greeted with so much enthusiasm as she saw her Aunt's face on the screen.

"Hey honey, how was work today?" Aunt Audry inquired stuffing her mouth with an apple slice.

"It was fine" Brenda replied in a way too girly voice rolling a strand of her hair on her index finger.

"Someone looks unusually happy today" Alexa commented raising a brow at her sister.

"What's going on?" She inquired.

"Nothing" Brenda replied sharply

"Come on......... Spit it out"Alexa shouted when Brenda said nothing but blushed like a Teenager.

Brenda could swear she saw her Aunt's ear grow wider as she adjusted on her chair eagerly waiting for the big news.

"I saw a guy at the office.... And..... I think I like him" Brenda finally said breaking the pin drop silence with her eyes looking anywhere else but their faces as she was overwhelmed with sudden shyness.

"Awwwwwn"

"Awwwwwn"

They both chorused simultaneously.

"I now see why you two get along so well" Brenda said to herself rolling her eyes.

"What's his name?" Aunt Audry immediately asked forcefully swallowing down her apple.

"His name is Randy" Brenda replied wearing a stupid smile not letting go of her hair.

"Awwwwwn"

"Awwwwwn"

They both chorused again.

"Okay..... I'm not doing this with you guys anymore" Brenda Stated laughing and rising to her feet as they both threw series of questions her way.

"Bye Auntie, my regards to Jake, I love you." Brenda added before she ran up the stairs and went straight into her room.
