Chapter Sixteen

Alexa's P . O . V

"Excuse me ma'am, Mr Jeffrey has arrived" a young maid announced to me as I blinked off my confusion after being abruptly awaken by her annoyingly loud knocking or should I say banging on my door.

"I'll be down soon" I reluctantly replied after her face instantly turned apologetic after realizing she had disrupted my sleep.

"Yes ma'am, my apologies" she quickly replied with her head bowed as she walked backwards out of my room and shut the door when she was fully out.

I sighed and kicked off my covers glancing back down at my temptation filled bed that tried to lure me back to itself to bask in it's goose featheriness and ignore our Family's lawyer that was now present at our house awaiting me who hasn't even done so much as brush my own teeth.

You know those certain days yeah? When you just wanna lazy around and remain in bed all day? Today is one of such days for me.

Like who fixes a meeting for 8am? Jeez! I complained as I broke free from my bed's temptation and strolled lazily into my closet.

I flicked on the switch and illuminated the slightly dark room and studied the various colors and designs of outfits that hung mid air in various compartments of the closet unsure of what to wear.

Today, I was officially going to hand the company to Jake after several meetings and confirmations with Mr. Jeffrey our family's lawyer, the official signing was scheduled to take place today.

Mr Jeffrey approached me weeks after Brenda's burial concerning my parents company which was left presently in the hands of no one due to the fact that I the only heir to the company hasn't come of the declarative age nor economic stability to run a fully established company,

Well....... not that I wanted to. Tsk.

The deal was that I hand over the company to him temporarily for a couple of two or more years and then it will be handed back to me if I so wished which was a good enough offer for me.

Aunt Audry was my first pick but she has a job as a co worker with one of the biggest organizations back there in L.Q where she and Jake lived before she put her whole life on hold just to be here with me.

And besides, I needed her off my neck and having her run the company over here in Greece land is only gonna get me the exact opposite of that.

That was when I came to the conclusion that Jake is the person perfect for this and I've decided to leave everything in his hands. Asides the fact that he's usually always a carefree play boy, he has his serious moments and does whatever he put his mind to do perfectly well.

Better still, I'll rather have Jake keep a watch on me than his Overly Paranoid mom who would do what it takes if at all she could to shield me from the harsh rays of the sun on my 'delicate' skin for fear that I could get roasted.

I had fully come to business terms with my Cousin after he agreed to stand up for me and take over till I'm ready to take my place.

I still stood in my closet frustrated after tossing alot of dresses aside.

A bright smile spread across my face as I suddenly pictured the perfect cloth to put on.

I reached for the last compartment and snatched the little door open revealing the Brown leather coat I had taken from Brie just before out trip.

I paired it with straight black trouser pants and a white collar neck button down blouse.

Now satisfied with my selections, I exited the closet and threw the clothes on my bed before wriggling out of my pyjamas and rushing into the bathroom for a quick bath.

Several minutes after the not so quick bath, I appeared into my room again feeling all fresh and clean as the fragrance of my rose scented body wash filled the room with a little hint of my mint mouth wash that danced in the air as I smiled at my reflection in the mirror.

I towel dried my hair that looked totally like a wet Animal fur and began brushing out the tangled edges when I felt it was dry enough.

I massaged my body softly with lotion and stood up to finally get in my clothes.

I did the last button of my blouse and dusted my eyelids with a dull shade of nude that wasn't quite obvious due to my skin color. I applied mascara to my relatively long lashes and opted for glossy lips.

I pinned my hair up and rolled up the dangling curls with my hair ribbon, then I picked up my coat and threw it up my sleeves.

Appraising my reflection in the mirror, I smiled at myself as I appeared like my sister, exactly the way she would show up to work on a very good day.

I picked up her mini framed photo I placed on my Vanity table and smiled down at it tracing the curves of her smiling face with my fingers.

I held the frame closely to my chest for a few seconds till I pulled it back, shook a firm nod at the photo, kissed it softly and returned it back to the table.

I sat by the edge of my bed and put on my animal skin 4 inch wedge boot and glided out of the room satisfied with my appearance.

"Good Morning Mr Jeff" I greeted cheerfully as I reached the sitting room and found Jeff sitting in a relaxed position.

"Alexa. You're finally out, Good Morning, I trust your night went well" He replied me pulling himself into a proper sitting position.

"I'm totally fine. Sorry I'm late" I apologized as I walked over to where he sat.

"Nahh......it's fine" he replied chuckling looking totally unbothered by my late coming emptying the remaining contents of his orange juice containing glass into his mouth.

"It's fine?? I'm about an hour and 30 minutes late??" I said out loud glancing at my black leather wristwatch with wide eyes as I gazed unbelievably at the time that displayed 9:32 AM, i didn't expect I had taken this much time!

"It's fine" he chuckled again with a wave of his hand, the contract signing isn't until 10:00 AM" he added dropping down his glass on the tiny glass tray.

"But you said it was by 8:00 AM" I responded frowning and trying to recall his several reminders that told me to be ready by 8:00 AM.

"I grew up with four sisters, so I know fully well that a lady's 8:00 AM Is a guy's 10:00 AM and that has worked on my wife for the past eighteen years so I figured I could use the same trick on you and thankfully I did" He replied looking so pleased with his decision.

"Smart" I managed to say realizing I had no words to defend myself.

"Alexa honey, you look amazing" my aunt said from behind me drinking my appearance with appreciation as I turned to face her and walk into her embrace.

"Have you had anything to eat yet?" She asked looking up at me wide eyed as I now towered above her in my heels.

"No" I simply replied

"Come with me, I'll fix you a bowl of cereal or something" she immediately replied taking my hand and leading me towards the kitchen.

"No Auntie, we're late" I disagreed trying to halt my steps as she pulled me along

"But....."

"I'm fine." I firmly replied cutting her off before freeing my wrist from her grip.

"Where's Jake?" I asked her after realizing he was nowhere within sight.

"Here" he replied announcing his presence as he descended the staircase.

He was neatly dressed in a dark grey suit with a black colored tie. His hair was combed back with a few locks falling over his shaven face.

"Great. I think we are all set to go" Jeff announced rising up to his feet and tucking in the sides of his shirt that pulled out of it's place while he sat.

He took his large briefcase that I only but wondered what amounts of documents were held in the conspicuously large brown briefcase that totally matched the shade of his suit that was also complementing his neatly polished shoes.

"Make sure you both get something to eat!" Aunt Audry called out as we followed after Jeff out of the house.

"Okay Mom"

"Okay Auntie"

Jake and i called out simultaneously.

"Bye kids" she called out waving at us as she stood by the door of the house.

"Bye Mom"

"Bye Auntie"

We both chorused waving back at her.

We climbed into Jeff's white Mercedes sedan with me in between Jake and Jeff as his driver hit the road heading for my father's company.
