The Mansion's Bride

1089 Words
Slow music was played as the lights dimmed to center on her. She remembered how much she had trained for that moment. Her pale skin shone in the lights as she twirled and spun. The guests were in awe as the princess looked extremely beautiful under the lights. Maybe…. He didn't mind her skin heart because of her pretty face. The room kept spinning as her face turned paler. At first, she tried to ignore it. The dance was coming to an end soon, she could endure it. But things started to get worse; she found herself gasping for breath as the hall turned blurry. She clutched her chest as she began to lose her vision. “The princess is falling” The hall went into a frenzy, with everyone panicking, but no one dared to catch the falling princess. The king stood up, but as he made an attempt to reach for her, a tall figure was already seen carrying her in his arms. The hall fell silent, with everyone confused. One minute the princess was falling, the next, she was being carried in the arms of her ethereal groom. It looked like a scene from a novel. “How was he so fast…” “He was just on his throne a second ago...” “How is she so lucky?” “Such a sickly child…” Slowly rumors began to pile up, but Alex wasn't the least instructed. Picking up his bride, he walked outside the hall. Tobias’s eyes widened with the scene that was in front of him. He pinched himself a couple of times to confirm that he had not fallen into a deep slumber, perhaps died, and had finally fallen into the deepest part of Satan's home. “My …. My Lord...” He stammered as Xavier shot him a cold glare. “Start the carriage now.” His icy voice somehow brought Tobias back to reality. “Yes, my Lord.” The carriage and army gradually left the walls of the NightVeil kingdom…. But the stories lingered for a long time. The king didn't expect respect from someone of his caliber; he was even respectful enough to come in person for the marriage, but he didn't expect such blatant ignorance. “I finally figured out who he was…...isn't he the infamous demon Xavier?” The hall gasped in realization. His aura… His eyes…everything looked like it came from the deepest part of hell .... turns out he was the son of the owner of hell. They couldn't believe that the king gave his daughter to someone made of a cold heart. **** The halls were cold and dark as Xavier carried Aria up to a room. Dropping her down, he stared at her for a moment as her chest rose quietly when she took a breath. She looked like an oil painting. For a second, Tobias could see why his lord brought the strange woman home. Her beauty was unmatched. He was shocked to his bones when he was sent to deliver a message to a certain witch's Kingdom hand in marriage. He thought he was hallucinating, but here he is, staring at a girl that had passed out in the ballroom. Xavier left the room leaving no instructions for Tobias, which made him more confused. She looked awfully pale and fragile…... shouldn't he at least call a doctor? Xavier heard a soft knock as he took a sip of his wine. The door of the study slowly opened, and Tobias's thin body came into display. “My Lord…. Should I instruct the doctor to check up on the lady…...” But his eyes widened as he saw the image in front of him. Lord Xavier's hands were placed on his chest as he looked like every breath was a struggle. His golden eyes, laced with pain as he slowly looked at Tobias. “No need…. She's fine.” He had almost never seen Lord Xavier in such a state before, as his hands trembled. It looked like every word was a struggle for him. “Prepare the carriage…. I have somewhere to be.” Xavier said, not minding his state. “But my Lord… it's your wedding night, and you look like you are injured,” Tobias said as he noticed the obvious pain he was going through. Xavier shot a cold look at him as Tobias immediately cut his words short. “I have said too much, I'll go prepare your carriage now” He said this as he rushed out of the study. He slowly approached the carriage as Tobias double-checked the horse's condition. He still looked like he was in pain as his lips had turned completely white. “I'll… I'll be back in a few days,” Xavier said, hesitating on his words…it was almost like he was counting them. “Provide everything she needs…. She's your responsibility.” Saying this, he entered the carriage and rode into the night. The next day, the house was a bit livelier as maids dusted, cleaned, cooked and chatted. They had heard rumors that their Lord had taken a bride. But they dared not believe in this absurd rumor for the fear of having their heads cut off, but it made a nice chat as they worked their morning away. Tobias rose up bright and early as usual as he inspected what was being done and cooked. He called the servants of the mansion and the whispers got louder…. Could it be that the rumor was true. “The Lord has gotten a bride, and she is the young lady of the mansion, treat her like you'll treat the Lord?” Their mouths were agape as he gave the instructions. It was like seeing the devil pray…. How were they supposed to react to such brazen news? “Sir Tobias…. Is the Lord really married?” A servant spoke as they all seemed to hold their breath for the response. “Yes, the Lord took in a bride last night, I'll instruct the kitchen on her pallet. If you mess a single thing up, your head will be offered as an apology.” Tobias might look scrawny in nature, but everyone knew that he didn't play with his words. “You are dismissed.” The servants walked back in a daze to their place of work. Just how beautiful was she that she was able to get Lord Xavier to marry her? Aria turned as her breathing became heavier.
