chapter 3- Octavia

People are coming by offering me birthday shots and before I know it, it's almost midnight. My whole body is hurting, I feel like I'm going to get sick. I run off into the woods. My body is burning. It's intense. It's the worst feeling I've had in my entire life, disgruntled grunts come from my mouth. Grunts that don't sound like my own voice. I look down at my arms and hair? Hair starts at the tip of my fingers and slowly, extrutiatly slowly starts to make it's way up my arm. I get sick everywhere, from the booze, from the pain. I can't tell. I fall to the ground and wither in pain trying to stop the screams from trickling out of my lips. Every bone in my body feels like it's on fire and breaking; every inch of my body tickles in anticipation. I hear the fireworks go off in the distance right when I can't hold it in anymore. The screams engulf my body but soon turn into howls. My vision blurs as the last thing I see is Alyssa staring into my eyes shocked at what she sees, Alyssa is muttering something under her breath. I slump to the ground as I black out. I slowly come too, not moving I hear Alyssa screaming over the phone, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DIDN'T KNOW! SHE'S A BLOODY WEREWOLF!" I can hear her stomping in frustration, trying to calm herself down, "I couldn't imagine what would of happened to her if I wasn't here… Yes I put her to sleep… Yes she's still here in the woods… Okay but hurry. She could wake up any minute now." I hear her shuffling. Actually I hear everything. I hear her heart beating frantically in her chest. The cars leave one by one from the party. A girl fighting with her boyfriend in a tent almost 8 miles away. Cars passing on the highway. I take a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. All these scents I'm taking in that one breath...I smell Alyssa's perfume, the campfire, the puke that litters the park from my party, the fumes from the cars, I can smell everything but the one thing I can smell is amazing.. The smell of rain, dark chocolate, my favorite smell of pine trees. This scent takes over my brain. It's intoxicating... I can't think of anything else. I get up which startles Alyssa, she's trying to talk to me but I'm not listening. 'he's close' my brain rattles. Shocked for a moment to hear a voice that isn't mine but the smell is more pressing. I smell the ground and when I find the link to the scent I run. Not just a run, I take flight darting between trees and jumping over logs. My chest is pounding but the feeling is intoxicating. ' we're almost there, he's close ' she mutters, I dash through the bushes and come up to a house. A house is an understatement, it looks more like a castle. Before I can take in the majestic structure of this house a person dashes out of the front door. It's him.. it's the man that plagues my dreams, my nightmares. Julien. He stops in his tracts and looks baffled. If my expressions were human I'd match his facial expressions. I finally take in what's going on and I look at my oversized paws rather than my normal human feet. My whole body isn't mine. I'm a monster, I'm the monster from my nightmares. I look at him, my eyes starting to burn, I don't want to cry but the liquid coming out betrays me. I ran from him, ' how could he love a monster?!' I think to myself.. ' Because he's a monster too, ' the voice inside my head answers. 'NO!' I scream but howls coming out instead. I run and run until I come upon a lake nestled deep into the mountains. I stop and wade inside the lake. My big body adjusts to the warmth of the water. I smell him but I'm too exhausted to do anything but lay here. He comes out of the tree line with a naked torso. I take a quick glimpse of his body but hastily look away, ashamed and embarrassed I cannot look at him. I look in the distance and see the sun starting to rise. I hear his body come closer as he's trudging into the pool of water with me. He grabs my oversized body and pulls me closer. I feel it, the pain from before washing over me. The pain I never want to experience again. This time I let the pain wash over me, the howls turning into screams. My eyes shut and open revealing my human hands once again. I sigh in relief and look up at him. His eyes shine bright as they bore into mine, he pulls me closer into his grasp, "Mate." He softly whispers into my ear. Relaxation barrels through me and I feel my eyes flutter closed, snugged in his embrace I fall into a deep sleep.
