Chapter 10 - Julien

When we walk into the office the walls are made out of bookshelves. There are so many old looking books you might as well call the room a library rather than an office. The office is cluttered with all kinds of gizmos and gadgets that all have a mythical feel to it. In the center of the room is an old mahogany desk filled to the brim with papers, scrolls, and books. There is so much on the desk you almost don't realize there is a woman sitting behind it, using the little amount of workspace she has left. Her head darts up and looks at us, she looks like she's in her late 40s, onyx skin tone and a buzz hair cut. She looks annoyed at our presence and I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I've never liked witches, you never know when they'll stab you in the back. "What can I help you with Mr. Collins?" She asks as she leans back into her chair clasping her hands together. I have to contain my wolves urge to snap her neck already as I narrow my eyes in disgust. "Hello Cassandra nice to see you too. We have been having a problem with demon Faye. We were hoping to have your cooperation." I say clenching my jaw. She takes a minute to look us down and you tell she is pondering her options. "Do you know Mr. Collin you have not been the only one with this.... how can I put it.. Hindrance." She chuckles lightly and swivels her chair to the side while shuffling through her stack of paperwork. She grabs a stack of paper briefly giving it a glance. She hands it to her assistant who in turn hands it to us. Looking through it in the same manner I see it's mail sent to her from other packs asking for assistance. You can tell it's made in mass form as it has no identifying features meaning they sent it to almost every coven they could think of. "Mr. Collins, I have sent out a couple of witches from my coven at first. Then I received so many that it outnumbered my Coven. This isn't something in our state, it's happening everywhere. These Faye are becoming stronger, faster, and multiplying. We have no idea where they come from," she motions to the paperwork in front of her, "I've been working on figuring out where that might be." Henry mind links with me, 'If this is happening everywhere then that means we might have an easier time to make an alliance with other clans.' 'I was just thinking about that, but that also means we're about to fight a war without knowing the opponent. We'll be fighting a war with no end.' I can't help to think back about the girl who I held in my arms today. Handing her limp body over to her crying mate. The paperwork crumples in my hand as my wolf gets angry. I let out a long breath and hand the paperwork back to the assistant. " I'm coming to you in person, one of my pack members died today. I will not allow that to happen again. We would like to buy protective items from you for defense. I would also like for one of you to come and look at all the Faye we killed today. Their bodies are still out in the field being guarded by our clan. We need to figure out where they come from or who they come from." I really hope she agrees with all of this, if not I'll have to wait til tomorrow and go to a different coven and by then the Faye bodies will start to decay. She stands up and goes over to one of her gadgets strewn about in her office. The device she picks up is a little silver ball a little bigger than the size of her palm. She brings it over to me and hands it to me. I grab it out of curiosity but still hesitant as I don't know what it will do. She walks back over to her desk while saying, "I know that won't work forever, and I'll have my assistant grab you some talismans to hang on your doorways to stop Faye from coming in. The object I gave you is a shield device. It is deadly to Faye when activated.." You can see her ponder for a moment and she shakes her head and looks me straight in the eyes. "This is deadly to ALL Faye, You turn on the device and it should last you about a month until it has to be recharged. It ranges for about 100 meters. If the Faye are already in the bubble it won't hurt them so you will still have to be careful." I look at Cassandra with hesitation, why do I have the feeling she's not telling me something. Witches never tell the truth, I have to take everything at face value. I grip the silver ball harder in my hand and look it over. It doesn't look like it would hurt anyone unless you threw it at their head. I glare at her. "I will have my beta pay you for the information and the equipment you have given us. I hope that we can work in cooperation in the future in addition have a peaceful existence together." I get up from the chair and storm out of the door and head straight for the car not looking back.
