“You two have an interesting friendship,” Willow commented, finishing off her fries as I wrapped up the retelling of what Riley had been saying to me about Cole during our lunch shift.
“Yeah.” I couldn’t help the frown that formed on my face as I dipped my chicken finger in ranch. “You don’t think that means anything, right? Like I’ve been telling my grandma for a while that Riley and I are just friends, but she’s convinced there’s something deeper there. Someone who actually likes me isn’t going to suggest I blow someone else, let alone their own brother, right?”
“I mean…it is weird that he would tell you to do that just so the back door will get opened so he can vape…but I’ve worked with Riley for two years, and I’ve never heard him talk to anyone the way he does you sometimes.”
