Chapter 2:My Lady

I woke up feeling satisfied,and yeah that is not the feeling I get every or any morning,I felt something was wrong…

“Oh no my alarm, I woke up late, I'm dead! I am dead!! I'm dead!!” I kept chanting this while rushing to the bathroom, then I heard a knock.

“who is that?”

“Are u all right?.... “ That was Zain

“Yeah I am, I will be down in a minute”

I rang the bells and the maids rushed in, each one of them holding different items, then we set to work.

I knew I was late so I was ready for scolding,I gently walked my way into the dinner hall, there everyone were already seated waiting for me, as I look up dozens of eyes peered at me, “I really hate this”I said under my breath, I graciously went up to my grandma.

“You are late,”

“Am sorry grandma, it won't happen again”

“It's better not, go have your sit beside Jack” she turned to Mary who was already sitting beside Jack “Go find your place young lady”

“Yes grandma” She stood up with a smile, I know she will come at me for this, she felt humiliated.

Jack stood up moving the chair for me, giving him a slight bow as I sat down, he was still that fine gentle man, he smiled back at me.

After eating we were expected to wait because grandma always has an announcement to make.

“I am delighted u could join us today Prince jack,”

“ The honor is all mine”

Yes as you guess right he is a prince, I had known jack for a very long period of time, he grew up around I am my sister's all though he was more of Mary’s agemate, I have had this long crush on him for so long, so when grandma broke the news of my engagement to me, I was over the moon. I never knew how Jack felt towards me, I never really cared.

“Am sure you all know what tomorrow is, I don't need to say much, so get yourselves ready…..” She turned to Jack. “tomorrow they will be an announcement of your engagement to my granddaughter “ she turned to face me “I will make her the most beautiful bride in all of Evergreen, She will be all your tomorrow”.

“Don't worry about that grandma, she is going to be the most beautiful “ I raised my head, and as I expected it was Mary's voice. I felt this crawling feeling all over me, Mary is never nice, she makes sure to make me feel like an outsider. I realized that Jack hasn't said anything to me directly, I would feel my cold,wet hands under the table.As grandma and my sisters left, leaving me and Jack alone,everywhere became awkward. Zain just stood there, he has always been by my side,I couldn't even remember how long, he still looks the same as though he never age, he was still that talk, dark and quiet young man, I never really knew his age not that I even asked, he was just always by my side,as he stood there,his eyes, I could swear I saw something,I was trying to recall what I saw then jack spoke.

“My lady, I hope u don't feel uneasy around me”

My lady? He still calls me that.

“No I don't, I am very well comfortable”

“ Tomorrow is a big day for you”

“ No it's a big day for us “ I smiled sheepishly

“ Oh yes, what interest you, I would love to get you something for your birthday and an engagement gift”

“ Oh my, I would love absolutely anything u give”

“Oh well, that been said I will be on my way, I would love a little rest,”

“ Oh please go rest”.

I watched as he left the room.

I did not see Mary there all this while until she stepped out.

“I really hope you don't disappoint grandma tomorrow”

“ I will be at my best Mary” I said trying to let her know her words does not hurt me anymore.she was surprised at my response

“Do u think Prince jack loves you or are you just delusional” she said and left with an irritating smirk on her face.

“I am done studying Zain, I would love some fresh air,this evening breeze is what I need right now” .

I began strolling around the garden, I was hoping to see Prince Jack, and there he was with someone “Mary?” It seems they were having a discussion but they were too closed, it's was dark so I learned forward to get a closer look , I could hear piece of my broken heart falling to the ground, They were both kissing, tears fell down my eyes, I was bittered and angry, I could feel the change in my body system I knew my hair was turning white at that moment I tried to move further but Zain dragged me back, the force turned me to face Zain, and I realized that what I saw early was right, his eyes were blazing red.
