As I hoped, my words reached the target and I got what I needed to keep the little brat alive. Sure, the King of the light kingdom was not really exited with the idea of me getting access to the restricted area of the library. It might have a lot to do with the how we met and the first impression he got of me back there, but I do not think that opinion of me was not complete fair or true... in those circumstances anyone would do the same. So him judging me so harshly when anyone would have done the same does not seem right to me. Not to mention the fact that there is only a few that has been honored with the opportunity to even visit the restricted areas of the kings library that contains a lot of kingdoms secrets among them, all the ways to access magic on this side of the wall. The only few were aloud here, were the ones that sweared that they would never attempt to use what they learned. And we all knew that I was going to use what I learned there, because there is only a few things that work against magic, and the only one way to protect oneself was to use magic. So the little brats one chance in life was me learning a way to combat whatever else they were going to trow at her. And I am sure that he would not have agreed to letting me in here, if his aunt, the lady of the house, did not go into a full hysteria when it was even mentioned that the king might not give me access to the books I need to protect her daughter. So I was allowed into the library, but I had a nanny in the shape of a scrawny man that was kings most trusted servant. The only positive about this man was that he was completely silent most of the time. From the look in his eyes I could tell that he had a lot of questions, but knew better then to voice them out. So instead he stood a few steps away from me while pretending to read a book. At first it was easy to ignore him, but with every moment his ability to pretend gotten worse, to the point where he was plain ass staring at me. Which was starting to drive me crazy, I was not used to anyone staring at me so intensely, especially when I was trying to study ancient books. Back at the dark kingdom, only the Dark King had the guts to disturb me like this, but here I guess, I no longer has the credibility to scare someone to act differently. So as I could not scare the man away to leave study in peace and doing anything to him would only make me look that much more suspicious in the kings eyes that he would not hesitate in putting me in the dungeon or throwing me back over the wall. Intead I chose to entertain him. "Stop standing and staring its weird and I am sure that I can hear you think from all the way there." The man stood there for a moment staring at me, clearly not trusting me or my intentions. "Come on, sit. I don't bite, not even if you ask me as you are not really my taste." Which was true, as his eyes had those tired sadness that told me that he was both wise and experienced. I said that trying to get a smile out of him, but the look on his face, it was clear that he did not appreciate my sense of humor. After a moment of just standing there and staring at me, he gave in and took the seat in front of me. For a moemtn the room was completely silent and we were just staring at each other. "Why are you doing this? I was informed that you are from the dark kingdom and I had not met anyone that left the dark kingdom that wants to do anything with magic. Quite opposite, they come here to escape it and all the pain and damage it causes." Well, it looks like the little spy is not one for small talk as he went directly for what he wanted to know... and I kinda appreciate the honesty. For a moment it was once again silent and this time I was the one dragging it on as I tried to decide how to answer his question. I knew that I could not tell the truth, but I had a feeling that this man had a bullshit radar like no other, something about the way he was looking at me had me feeling that bullshitting him would not lead to anything good. So I went with the truth, or at least the version that was not going to get me killed. "For survival I guess. A girl has to eat and there is no real other way that I could survive in this kingdom and make a living other than this. There are no real other skills I have that I could offer." For a moment I could see him processing what I just said. This was more true than I should have probably gone with, but I know that I have to sacrifice something to get anything, and right now, I need to get this mans trust if I want to get the most out of this. In a way this is very risky, as magic was just at my thinner tips and I was sure that I would plummet into the sea of power greed if I was not careful. Needing to get my own attention off the stuff that was really scaring me, I made a lame joke. "Well it was this, or offering s****l favors for payment, but I will keep that one for latter when I am more desperate and this does not work out." Instead of the laugh I was hoping for I saw a shadow of sadness in that man's eyes, but it was gone as soon as it came. "I am sure that you would not have an issue with getting customers and it would be a lot more pleasurable then this." I could not stop myself, but laugh. "I do not doubt my ability to get customers... but the more pleasurable part... well I highly doubt that..." He stared at me for a moment and then released a low chest deep laughter. "Well, I guess you are right. If what I heard it is true, most lowers of the male kind rarely bring their female partners pleasure... and without that, the whole transaction would probably be not pleasurable at all." I could not help, but smile at his honest answer and the consideration he gave to the option. "And a lot of working ladies tell you their secrets? I did not take you for the type to pay for pleasure or company." I said with a little smirk and the man in front of me rolled their eyes. "You guessed right, I do not pay for either of those, but some of the ladies chose to give me those things without arsing for payment, even if they do usually charge men." Honestly, I did not expect that of him, but I guess what they say about the quiet ones true... "And you participate in such things often?" I am not sure what pulled me to ask this, but when the words were out the man looked at me confused for a bit and then in a completely calm tone answered me. "Ladies of these sort of profession are great providers of information, so a lot of times it is more for work then pleasure." Well... I did not expect the light king to use prostitutes as spies, but I can say I am impressed.
