Her face broke into a warm smile as she stepped into the beautiful and well furnished chambers. She could see him sitting on the round red sofa with his back facing her.
“Father,” she called and he turned towards her slowly.
“Alex! Alex!” He exclaimed as he saw her face. He tried to stand up with the aid of his walking stick and she hurried over to meet him. She dropped her bag on the couch and supported him.
“Alex, where have you been?” His emotional voice sounded and she broke into tears at once.
“Father, I’m so sorry,” she cried as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders slowly.
“What happened?” He asked and she raised her face to look at him.
“It’s a long story,” she sniffed as she wiped the tears off her face.
“I have all the time,” he said while looking into her eyes.
