EPILOGUE FEBRUARY 4, 1961 My life is a lot different since that night on the ledge. It’s good... real good. After I got my hope back and my head clear, Roy and Russ Kinney brought me down from the church belfry on a gurney. I was then airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis by none other than Barley Edinburgh. He was more of a threat to my survival than my bum leg. After Barley nearly missed the hospital roof in his attempt to land, he came to a stop within inches of a power line. At least the old fart was awake when we landed. The maim-team removed the lower part of my leg on December 22. There were complications due to infection and exposure, but hey, I’m here. And I’m still a great dancer. My biggest disappointment is that the docs wouldn’t send my severed limb to Queen Janine to use
