CHAPTER SIXTEEN NOVEMBER 22, 1960 Only two days till Thanksgiving. Ollie is baking pies to take to Denise’s house, and I made a centerpiece out of pine cones, branches, and candles because Ollie informed me, “A centerpiece would be proper, darlins.” The centerpiece looks darn good, I think. I got a letter from Murray today. It included a photo of him and Michelle in front of my old school, which sure makes me miss home. I admit, Murray’s letter has me worried: November, Something-or-other Weedamemnon, I can hardly write because my head is spinning. Michelle missed her ‘time of the month.’ Can you believe it?
