CHAPTER FIFTEEN
NOVEMBER 21, 1960
The Janine’s-School-of-Pain incident left me very distraught. After returning home last night, I wrote to Denise just to say how much I was looking forward to Thanksgiving. Then I was lying in bed thinking about Laura when I heard Ollie return. I turned off my light and pretended to be asleep. I had too many conversations going on inside my head to involve another person.
A few minutes later, I heard a giggle, followed by a thud and TWO distinct laughs. I admit to moments when I question my sanity, but last night wasn’t one of them.
