Chapter 4Back inside the McSwain home nearly an hour later, Jimmy and Maggie sat across from each other at the kitchen table. A pot of tea settled between them, steaming cups in front of them. As civilized as the scene appeared, there was an underlying tension. A talk long in the making and each seemed to realize its gestation had reached birthing. Maggie’s eyes darted about, like looking for an escape route. Jimmy’s remained focused on his mother.
