Jeanette's POV
Austin mentioned Rome like it was easy peasy. Honestly,I could afford the trip but for some reason, I've never had the motivation to do it.
That loser of a guy called Cole wasn't ever in on it. He would blab endlessly, giving me countless reasons on why I shouldn't go on holiday trips or vacations.
Once,he discouraged me from taking a modelling job for a high class modelling firm because he thought I was going to pose naked for the magazine.
Now,that I'm thinking about it,I know why he was so insecured about me. He was below my standards and was threatened that I was doing better than him.
Who cares now! I was finally going to Rome and this time without that douchebag. I wonder what I even saw in that guy.
I was still in my thoughts when my phone rang.
"Hello trending bride of the year!", Camille,my best friend called excitedly.
"Wait... what? Bride of the what now? Look, Camille, you really need to stop teasing me...", I said trying my best to sound serious.
Like Greg, Austin's friend, Camille was just the same. It was hard not to be happy or cheerful around her.
Myself and Camille had been through a lot together since highschool. She was there at every step of my life as I was with her.
Together,we have cried, played, failed and won.
"Please don't tell me that you haven't been on your phone since the wedding?",I heard her ask.
"Is there something happening that I should know but honestly, I don't even care anymore",I shot back.
I opened the Versace box and began to stuff my clothes with it, while I held the phone with my shoulders.
"Okay. You're kidding, Jeannette Marl. The newest alpha female in the Marl family. You and Austin are the power couple on everybody's mind right now. How I wish to be so you,Jee",she said without a pause.
I chuckled at her innocent comment. "No you do want to be me right now",I reasoned.
You get ditched on your wedding day and weeks after, you finally marry some billionaire's son, so he could get his father's blessings, and you could get back at your ex for taunting you.
Nobody wants to be that girl. Unfortunately,I'm that girl. Life keeps throwing lemonades to people.
"Do you know that Austin's mom got married to Sir Marl when she was about...",my best friend kept yapping but my thoughts drowned her loud voice.
"Hello! Hello? Jeannette? Are you there?", Camille screamed over the phone.
I groaned tiredly at my phone. "Yes! Camille Montez,I'm right here".
"Did you hear what I was saying?",she asked.
No I didn't! It was painful to listen to. I couldn't get myself to tell her that, she would drive all the way to the mansion,so I could repeat myself.
"Yeah I did. Something about Austin's parents?",I drawled in confusion.
"Uh..huh!",she said. I already pictured her rolling her large eyes and raising her thick eyebrows in disbelief.
"You know what? We're going to catch up and talk about everything when I get back, okay?",I asked her, with crossed fingers.
"Get back? Where are you going amigo?", another question was dashed at me.
Oh my gosh! Camille Montez! Questions were definitely her thing.
"Austin is taking me to Rome for our honeymoon",I announced convincingly.
"You mean it? That's remarkable, baby girl! See,I told you right? That a good man that you deserve is going to come and treat you right", Camille said emotionally.
I knew what she was referring to but I wasn't going to have a sob party today. Although it was hard,I was over Cole.
"I love you so much, Camille. I'll call you when we get there. I've got to pack like right now. My husband is getting really impatient",I whispered to the phone.
"Love you to sis! Make sure you call me and send me all the pictures and videos, including the naughty ones", Camille joked.
"Ewwww! That's disgusting. Talk to you later, bye",I said after blowing her a kiss.
Damn! My friend was one hell of a ride. I smiled softly and continued throwing in some clothes and beach wear. I hear Rome has a beautiful and exotic beach.
We sat comfortably in Austin's private jet. I began to go live on my social media page as he ordered us some champagne.
I was living the life! It wasn't real and wasn't going to last,so I was going to make it worthwhile. I took a sip from my glass and posed for the gram, making sure that the world knew, that I was in the glory of my marriage.
My husband was a workaholic which I understood. I was one too. He took out his apple laptop from his bag and began to work on it.
He needed to be focused,so I paid no attention to him. I continued making videos in the private jet when a notification popped on my screen.
Cole Schmitt had viewed my stories, pictures and the just put up video. For the first time,in a long while,I felt my tummy dance with pride.
Finally, that foolish tout saw my new life. He taunted me for weeks before my marriage to Austin. Recently,I had noticed that he wasn't showing off his new harem of women...or better, strippers to me.
Well I didn't care,I was going to pay him back in his coin.
"We have to put a picture of us jetting out of the country on our page", I said to Austin.
"I thought you were doing that already. You took lots of pictures and videos, few minutes ago", Austin said, still focused on his laptop.
I needed to be smart about my plan. "Yes I did. However, we need to make it look real. Someone seems to forget that daddy is going to see everything",I tried to patronize him.
Austin really wants to break free from his dad's grasp and the only time his dad had to be at peace with him was because of our marriage.
So,he didn't want to ruin that. He didn't say it often but he loved his parents.
"Fine. Anything for you",he said confidently.
I took a pose closer to him on the jet and we shared a brief kiss for the camera. The kiss may have been brief but it tasted like strawberries and cream.
It was time to serve Cole a cupful of ginger.
Tapping the phone, I edited the pictures properly and hit the send button. Camille told me we were already trending. I confirmed it and for some reason,I didn't think I was going to stop.
I felt Austin's eyes on me but I ignored him. I couldn't tell i
f it was cause of the kiss or it was something else.
