15. Corradin’s Question“My question,” said Corradin, “is why did you sneak off by yourself to look for the boy, when your friends left the village yesterday morning headed in this very direction?” Branwyn licked her lips. Of all the things the Fae woodsman could have asked, it had to be something slightly embarrassing. She faced him, trying to stand as tall and as confidently as she could. “They were travelling fast,” she said. “I’m not a soldier. I would have been too slow.” Corradin raised an eyebrow, his pale eyes shining. “It looks to me like you’ve done fine. But that doesn’t quite answer my question. Why did you come out here when they have already gone looking for the boy?” “But they’re not looking for him,” said Branwyn. “They’re looking for the Eagle Riders and the Princess.”
