18. AeronwyMharcus’ silent determination to get as far away from the Fae outpost as possible scared Andor. They plunged into the forest, Andor stumbling along behind in the grey light before dawn. Thick clouds hung overhead, casting a deep gloom over the forest. They took a weaving path through the trees, jumping from stone to stone or root to root wherever possible so as not to leave footprints in the soft earth, and avoiding thick tangles of branches that would be easily broken. As the morning passed, Mharcus’ pace slowed and he eventually allowed Andor a short rest while he wandered away, mumbling about consulting the trees. Andor promptly sat down and rummaged through his sack of spoils, quickly devouring two potato cakes and a pear. Mharcus returned shortly, with an annoyed twitch
