49. The Battle BeginsErin stood under the shadow of the trees, gazing out across the darkened plain towards Carn Deas. She could see the village as a cluster of tiny lights at the base of the hills, with the fortress looming over. There was no movement visible, but Erin did not let that fool her. The Brathadair would be there, alert, patrolling the walls. She glanced at the sky. Dawn could be no more than an hour away. Then it would be time. Erin heard a quiet footstep behind her and turned. Arthur stood there, appraising her. She tugged on her armour, but the leather plates were already fastened securely. “I still don’t like the idea of you leading this attack,” said Arthur.
