Daisy’s POV
“She took the bait.”
That was all I heard from Liam’s whispered call. My heart pounded as I turned my head and looked at him. My deep eyes demanded answers. Can you blame me? I had been fooled before by the man I thought was my greatest love. Keeping my guard up is the only way I can stay safe.
After awhile on the call, Liam turned to face me. I could see he knew I needed an explanation. He muted his phone and said, “It’s for my mom’s surprise birthday coming up.” He paused as if choosing his words carefully, then added, “I wanted to do something special for her.”
I nodded slowly. “Aww, that’s so cute. You can go ahead, I don't want to disturb you” I said with a small smile. Then, I turned and helped Francois sort out the suits we had selected for Liam earlier that day.
