Before I could react, Billie suddenly hurled himself at me like a tiny cannonball.
He clenched his fists and struck me hard over and over, yelling as he hit, "Bad woman! Don't you bully Auntie Marjorie! I don't want you to be my mom! I want Auntie Marjorie to be my mom!"
I looked down at Billie, and my expression darkened.
Over the years, whenever my sister came to visit me, she would always tell me about her life.
In the past, she talked about Carl the most, but later, the person she mentioned most became Billie.
From everything she said, I could clearly see how deeply she loved this child of hers.
"Get away from me!" A flash of disgust crossed my face. I shoved hard, and sent Billie tumbling straight to the floor.
Billie lay on the ground, staring up at me with his mouth agape in disbelief. Then his eyes slowly grew red-rimmed.
"You hit me? You actually hit me? Bad mom! I don't want you anymore!"
Seeing that I would actually lay a hand on Billie, Carl was equally shocked.
"Billie is your own flesh and blood, Sarah! You've really gotten more and more vicious now, you can even hurt your own biological son."
Marjorie quickly helped Billie to his feet, looking at me with clear disapproval.
"Sarah, even if you have grievances, you shouldn't take it out on a child."
I lifted my gaze halfway and darted a sharp glance at her.
"You're right. A wrong has its wrongdoer, a debt has its creditor. The one I should deal with is you, you bitch." After saying that, I strode forward, grabbed Marjorie by the head, and slammed it down into the leftover hot soup on the dining table.
Marjorie let out a bloodcurdling scream.
"Marjorie!" The shock rocketed through Carl. "Someone come! Pull this lunatic Sarah off her quickly!"
The villa's servants stepped forward cautiously, testing my reaction.
I snatched the knife and fork right off the table and pointed at them. "Stay away from me. These knives and forks don't have eyes. They'll cut anyone who gets close."
Seeing me hold the knife and fork pressed against Marjorie's neck, Carl finally backed down.
"Don't hurt Marjorie. Just tell me what you want; anything is fine."
I wrenched Marjorie's head out of the hot soup. By now, her entire face was swollen and blistered from the burns.
"It's simple. I want this b***h to slap her own face while saying she's a shameless homewrecker, then get the hell out of this villa. No other woman is allowed to set foot in this villa except my sister me— except me!"
With a hostage in hand, Carl had no choice but to yield.
Marjorie was forced to slap herself while hurling insults at herself.
When she left the villa, her gaze at me was brimming with intense hatred.
"Don't try anything. Otherwise, I can't guarantee I won't suddenly snap and kill someone. After all, the criminally insane aren't liable for murder, right?"
After warning Carl, I headed straight for my sister's room on my own, ignoring him completely.
My sister and Carl had slept in separate rooms long ago. She lived alone on the second floor, which made it easier for her to take care of Billie.
As soon as I walked in, my eye fell on an oil-painted portrait sitting on the nightstand.
My sister and I are identical twins, we look almost exactly the same. But no one ever mixed us growing up, all because our personalities are polar opposites.
My sister had a gentle temperament and a sweet face. She always wore long white dresses, as bright and cheerful as a fluttering butterfly.
