I half expected to find Mike on my doorstep the next morning, but I didn’t. Instead, I found a note taped to my door. What makes you think you can just walk away without paying what you owe? Drop the internship, and get back to work. My breath caught in my throat and I crushed the note in my hand. Tanner had been right. I really hated when he was right. If Mike had been there, he would know what to do, and would take no time taking over the situation. But he wasn’t there. He left. I’d thrown him out.
