Chapter 2

So there I was huffing and puffing as I tried to remain hid behind an old oak tree. Meanwhile, the frick and frack twins, as if sculpted like Swedish body builders, with blond hair that shined in the sun like gold and blue eyes so bright like the midday sky. Let alone, each one stood well over 6 feet tall, and muscles clearly bulging through their tight fit clothes. The twins managed to stay on my trail and hunted me down in the forest. I scented them and realized they scented me too, despite me trying to throw off my scent by covering myself in mud.

EW.

I was covered in mud and I still felt exposed. I barely had anything to protect myself. All I had were the elements and my quick wit. I suddenly focused on the view in front of me and realized it was a cliff and I could hear running water.

Shit.

Was I really gonna fall to my death? How far was the fall? I couldn’t even see. I was an easy 50ft.-100ft. away from the cliff.

Fuck.

‘Should I run for it?’ I thought to myself.

“You’re not going to make it!” I heard a husky voice holler from behind me.

Fuck it.

I sprinted for it. I ran like a bat out of hell. For a split second I thought against it, but then thought, ‘welp at least my wolf side would heal my bones right?’ Just as I neared the edge of the cliff I spun as I jumped off only to see the idiots only spotted me as I jumped off the cliff.

Shit, I could still have outsmarted and maybe even out ran those two idiots; The Swedish gamma twins. I spiraled down and as I did the sound of the running water thrashing against the rocks was roaring in my ears all the way until I plunged into the water and could feel my right leg hit something. I immediately tried to swim my way up for air but it felt like it was never ending until I reached the surface. I could feel the burn in my lungs, my nostrils. I tried to gasp for air but water kept getting in my mouth and up my nose. I could feel myself being pushed and pulled by the strong force of the water. For a split second I couldn’t help but think, ‘Did I die and go to hell? Is this my eternal hell, drowning?!’

Suddenly, It was almost as if I was plucked out of the water. I immediately tried gasping for air and violently began coughing. I felt like a line of fire from my nose down to my lungs. I was thrown on the ground but I immediately crouched down in a defensive stance. I blinked violently until my vision caught up with the rest of my senses. That’s when I seen them, dumb and dumber, they looked disheveled themselves as if they too took the plunge to catch up to me. I couldn’t help but scrunch my eyebrows at them as I noticed them both looking afraid. They both also had stances of submission, both of them stood with their heads down. That’s when I realized I scented him.

It was in that moment that I scented another male, one clearly higher rank than these idiots otherwise they wouldn’t submit. I went to turn around but I was immediately lifted with such ease as if I was a sack of potatoes. I then felt a shooting pain in my right leg from where I was hit before. I felt huge hands around my legs then I felt a hand squeeze tighter around my right leg.

“Gah! What in the f**k?!” I croaked out hoarsely. I didn’t even sound like myself. My voice sounded altered, more raspy and weak even; because I nearly drowned.

“Ah, I thought I smelled blood, that wasn’t the brightest idea now, was it? You’re either stupid or bat-s**t crazy, Princess.”

Even though I was high up from the ground due to this huge, seemingly alpha wolf by the way hugely built his physique was, I couldn’t help but let out guttural scream and jab him in a pressure point in his shoulder that had him drop to his knees with a grunt of his own. As he fell, my voluptuous body fell right on him but this time I slipped and ended up full frontal on his full front. I ended up face to face, eye to eye with such an oddly beautiful, clean shaven dark brown hair, emerald green eyed, clean shaven, with a killer jaw line. My right leg was killing me but oddly enough this specimen seemed to entice my entire body.

Although his face was scrunched up in a bit of pain and fury, his face quickly softened as the stranger alpha looked into my eyes. It’s almost as if our bodies, no, our entire beings couldn’t help but confess what we both felt inside.

“MATE” we both stated.

“Oh my God…” I heard one of the twins say.

“I got her boss!” And I felt yanked up by one of the idiots.

“Put her down, Jer!” I heard the smart one say.

I immediately heard a snarl come from behind me now. "Hands off of her! NOW!” I heard the alpha command.

The twin named Jer immediately unhanded me and I couldn’t help but lose balance. The alpha grabbed me again but this time he scooped me up almost immediately before I could fall.

I shook my head violently, “Let me go.”

The alpha grunted and I almost felt him embrace me a bit tighter to him as he began walking further into the forest.

“Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dub have been following me all over. Who are you and what do you want from me?” I asked the alpha.

He chuckled at my nickname for them.

At the sound of his laugh, I couldn’t help that my heart skipped a beat. My senses seemed to be on edge since both our inner wolves acknowledged one another as mates. Hell, I didn’t even know the man’s name yet. The brunette hottie was making long strides, quickly at that, or maybe it was the fact that he was freakishly tall at about 6’8, was my guess? He was huge, and I could feel how muscular he was as he had me lifted against his chest. That’s when I realized none of these men had shirts on. They had to shift into their wolves to get to me. I couldn’t help but make a snort in satisfaction of myself.

Suddenly he looked down at me for a second then back up, paying attention to the trail. He was scanning the forest and that’s when I realized, there’s a bigger danger out there.

“Happy with yourself, Princess?” He spits out.

“Say, look, I don’t know you, but I know that look. There’s something out here isn’t there?”

He let out a snort himself, “Oh, you have no idea what you got yourself into.”

I poked him in the chest then, “Listen buddy, we don’t have to do all of this. You could let me go on my merry little way and have your little spy puppies go back home with you.”

He let out a growl, to which, let’s be honest, my inner she-wolf was freaking howling back at him at this point.

“I don’t think you understand, Princess. Mate means mine unless either of us rejects one another and so far, I would say our wolves would agree. So now, I have to protect your ungrateful little ass. Which, by the way, why haven’t you shifted yet exactly?”

“Screw you,” Was all I could manage to let out. I still didn’t trust either of these wolves. How could I? They clearly were watching me for a reason. “You don’t have to do anything for me. I don’t even know why you have your mutts following me anyway. It’s not like they were discreet at all. I made them out long ago.”

“Okay cool,” He said as he dropped me once we made it out of a clearing and what stood before us was a huge mansion. I fell to the ground with a thud and groan. I looked around and saw, what was probably considered to be the back yard, was absolutely breath taking. I spotted a greenhouse, beautiful flowers everywhere that you lay your eyes. I could also see many other wolves scattered about the field which is the backyard. I see some others tending to the gardens, some wolves also trained in the field.

I looked up at the wolf who just dropped me, “And I’ll be leaving now.”

I tried to get up but felt an immediate stabbing pain shoot up through my leg. I looked down to see my leg still bleeding and yep, a huge cut that definitely looked like it needed stitches. I couldn’t help but fall back down and mutter out a string of cuss words.

“Shift. You’ll heal” He said.

I looked up at him and couldn’t help the tears that threatened to spill from my eyes. I shook my head.

He knelt down and looked me in the eyes and lowered his voice, “You can’t, can you?”
