The next morning, I heard the familiar sound of a lock clicking. Although my room was further away from Carter and Ladon, I hadn’t ventured back under deck until early in the morning. It was then that I heard the distinctive click and smiled.
I strolled over to Ladon’s room and positioned myself in front of the door just as it began to open. Ladon must have thought he was being stealthy, but as the door swung open, I stood there, prepared to intercept him.
