Chapter 10 The Children of The Fey

BYRDIE I finally recovered enough to gather my courage and packed a bag. It was time to go thank the man and woman that saved me and explain what had happened. I hoped Morianne would go with me. She wasn’t as worried about the residue that needed to be cleansed as some of us, but she was practical and knew the potential for disaster was a very real possibility. I shuddered to think of that horrible spirit that sacrificed me for his Dark Magic and thanked the Fates that his reign of terror was over. One of the Mages was still on the run, but I knew the Protectors were stepping in. That dark one’s days were numbered. He would be lucky if the IUC found him first. They wouldn’t. Karma was responding now. The connections we needed to be strong when we faced the rulers of the underworld were in motion. The Fates were pleased and I felt more at ease than I had before. This wasn’t the time to let our guards down, but Hope was more evident with Love blooming. {~>*•*Neither one of us has ever had a first kiss, I thought as I stepped out of the truck at the Armory. I wouldn’t mind if Chance was my first. I managed, I think, to shake that feeling for now. Clapping broke out when we entered the receiving area. A ‘Welcome Beta Chance!’ sign had been tacked to the wall. “Congratulations!” Carl called out. “Thank you,” Chance replied, then turned to me. “Did you send a MindLink?” “Nope, I did not. Things of this nature aren’t one of my responsibilities yet and I’m limited by distance, still. I’m honored to get to witness this, though.” “I’m happy to have a friend here as a witness, then.” A smile stretched across Chance’s face. “Is Uncle Morty in his office?” I asked Carl. At Carl’s nod I led the way to Morty’s door and was glad to see Uncle Sam there as well. “Ah, here’s our niece with our new Beta. How’s my girl?” Uncle Sam pulled me into a hug. “Ready to install the transmission?” “Goddess, yes, but I actually came to talk to you and Uncle Morty about something else.” Uncle Sam looked a little disappointed. “I thought maybe you enlisted help.” “I’d be happy to help a friend,” Chance offered. “I have an old truck I could use a little help with myself.” He actually winked at me. “I’m sure we can work something out,” Uncle Sam suggested. “So what brings you here today, Phoebe?” {~>*•*Mr. Albus Lockwood, Your reputation for Knowledge precedes you. I write to you with the hope of appealing to your ability to embrace the things you cannot see. I hope this book will enlighten you and you need to know this message is for your eyes only. What many don’t know is that the wife of Isaac Jr., Lady Ameé Sinclair, was a pixie. Several descendants of The Mother and Father would eventually take spouses with members of The Fey. In the beginnings, all creatures shared the earth, but after the rise of Jesus, humans began to fear the shifters and The Fey and then to persecute that which they did not understand. Long before the Creature Council of 1313, magical beings had already begun to experiment with expanding outside the Realm of earth. A family of half wolf shifter, half Fey were the first successful ones. From that first Realm hovering off the coast of the old Tuatha de Danaan lands that are now under water, other Realms were created. The original Realm had two moons. One from the Moon Goddess and one from Brigit, another Triple Goddess, worshipped by The Fey. After the persecutions began, an Evil never before seen began to emerge. I believe this may have been Frederick Johansson acting on a pact with Hades. Around 600 A.D., perhaps later, the original two moon realm began to split, right between the two moons. It was more of a wedge that slowly, almost unnoticeably, embedded itself. The ‘wedge’ essentially created two realms from the first and became a third realm itself. These realms, as you may have guessed, are Death Moon, Silver Moon and the former Black Valley. This is no longer common knowledge because The Fey began disguising their identities and created yet a fourth realm for themselves. They continued caring for the original lands they created, however, inhabitants began to forget. Now that the wedge has been destroyed, the land longs to be one again. The vestiges of Evil must burn off first, however, and the results could be catastrophic without a Remembrance. We are doing our best to prevent a massive collision of the two lands until evacuations can be made. Then, we need the help of the King and Queen, the rightful heirs to controlling both realms. I am pleased with the instinctual preparations to evacuate. The Anchored couples will be vital, but I mustn’t reveal more. I must take care not to interfere with The Fates too much. I will be keeping a close eye on things. You may not see me, but you will know when I am near. Morianne Byrne Headmistress, Order of The Fey
