Hank eyed the biscuits he had made, lined up on baking pans and ready to go into the oven. They would accompany the broccoli soup Ollie was busy preparing. The rhythmic thwack of Ollie’s knife against the butcher’s block as he diced potatoes was a comforting sound. It was nice, the two of them being alone in the kitchen, working as a team.
