Chapter 16 It was late afternoon when Ollie approached the King Street station, the historic, turn-of-the-century depot in Pioneer Square from which Amtrak trains arrived and departed. He stopped and eyed the building, its red bricks looking neat and orderly, its clock tower rising above, keeping track of the hours with precision. The station’s façade was very much at odds with what Ollie felt inside, which was turmoil and chaos. His stomach churned. He felt as though something had been amputated from him, leaving a gaping and painful hole in its place, tender. He didn’t know what he’d do or say once he got inside. He prayed he wasn’t too late.
