The False Queen

858 Words
The voice echoed across the heavens. “The False Queen has finally awakened.” Every living soul heard it. The words carried no anger. No hatred. Only absolute certainty. Seraphina instinctively reached for the silver crown resting on her head. Another tiny fragment broke away. It dissolved into stardust before touching the ground. Her breathing became uneven. “What… does that mean?” No one answered. Not immediately. The Star God remained frozen, his golden eyes fixed upon the crown. For the first time since His arrival, fear overtook His calm expression. “No…” “It cannot be.” Ash lowered his sword. His face had gone pale. “I’ve heard that voice before.” Seraphina looked at him. “Where?” “The Forbidden Archive.” “The oldest records spoke of it.” “They said…” He hesitated. “They said the Crown has chosen the wrong Queen before.” Silence swallowed the battlefield. The Grand Oracle slowly stood, her hands trembling. “There were never meant to be records of that.” Ash’s eyes met hers. “Because someone erased them.” Noah sighed softly. “I wondered how long it would take.” Seraphina turned toward him. “You knew?” “I knew the possibility existed.” “But I prayed I was wrong.” She stared at him. “Tell me the truth.” Noah looked into her silver eyes. “The Crown remembers every Queen.” “But memory can be altered.” “Someone rewrote history.” A cold wind swept through the shattered capital. Far above them, the porcelain hands continued tearing open reality. Each crack released strange whispers that no human language could describe. The universe itself was beginning to bleed. Yet Seraphina no longer noticed. Only one question remained. “If I’m the False Queen…” “…then who is the real one?” The Crown answered. Not with words. With light. A beam of silver burst from the cracked crown and shot into the northern sky. It crossed mountains. Forests. Frozen seas. Finally, it stopped above a lonely island hidden within endless storms. Everyone watched as another pillar of light descended. The clouds parted. An ancient crystal coffin rose from the center of the island. Inside lay a young woman. She looked no older than twenty. Long silver hair flowed around her like liquid moonlight. A perfect crystal crown rested upon her head. She looked… Exactly like Seraphina. The crowd gasped. Kael’s voice barely escaped his lips. “Impossible.” The woman inside the coffin slowly opened her eyes. Brilliant silver light flooded the sky. At the same instant… Seraphina cried out. A sharp pain exploded inside her chest. She collapsed to one knee. The Heart Star Mark on her arm began fading. “No…” She looked down in horror. The glowing symbol was disappearing. Ash rushed forward. “Seraphina!” The Star God caught her before she fell completely. His voice was filled with urgency. “The Crown is returning.” “Noah stepped forward.” “It has found its first vessel.” Seraphina looked up through tear-filled eyes. “First… vessel?” Noah nodded. “You were never the first Star Queen.” “You were her reincarnation.” “But…” His expression darkened. “Something interrupted the cycle.” Far away, the woman inside the crystal coffin slowly sat upright. The ocean surrounding the island began rising into the air. Storm clouds spiraled around her. She lifted one elegant hand. Thousands of ancient star spirits appeared beside her. They immediately knelt. “My Queen…” She looked toward the distant capital. Toward Seraphina. A faint smile crossed her lips. “So…” “You finally woke up.” Back in the capital, Seraphina’s heartbeat weakened. The silver crown slipped from her head. It floated into the air. Slowly. Reluctantly. As if torn between two choices. One path led toward Seraphina. The other… Toward the mysterious woman. Everyone watched in breathless silence. The Crown trembled. It could not decide. Then— A deafening laugh erupted from beyond the broken heavens. The Void Emperor. “So this was your secret.” His crimson eyes blazed with delight. “There were two Queens all along.” Darkness exploded across the sky. Millions of shadow creatures poured through the widening cracks. Their numbers dwarfed every army that had appeared before. The Void Emperor stretched out his hand. “I don’t care which one is real.” “I’ll kill both.” Kael stepped in front of Seraphina. Ash stood beside him. For the first time, the two rivals exchanged a silent nod. No words were needed. If the Queens fell… The universe would fall with them. The Star God unfolded all six wings. His light illuminated the battlefield. Noah quietly closed his eyes. Then, for the first time since his arrival… He looked afraid. “She’s coming.” Seraphina struggled to breathe. “Who?” Noah slowly looked toward the island where the crystal coffin had opened. His answer was almost a whisper. “The Queen…” “…who remembers everything.”
