The Dreamer Beyond Reality

966 Words
No one spoke. The barefoot man stood in the torn fabric of reality as though the universe itself welcomed his presence. He wore simple black robes. No armor. No crown. No weapon. Yet every star had gone dark. The Star God remained on one knee, his head lowered. “My Creator…” The man smiled gently. “You still call me that.” “It has been a long time.” Seraphina stared between them. Nothing made sense anymore. First she discovered she was the lost Star Princess. Then she learned she had once created the stars. Now another being had appeared whom even the Star God feared. “Who are you?” The man looked at her. His smile deepened. “I’ve been called many names.” “The First Dream.” “The Endless One.” “The Silent Author.” “But to you…” He stepped forward. “I was simply Noah.” The name struck Seraphina like lightning. Her heart lurched painfully. She had never heard it before. Yet tears filled her eyes. “…Noah.” The word escaped her lips without thought. The man closed his eyes. “You remembered.” Ash looked between them in confusion. “You know him?” Seraphina slowly shook her head. “I…” “I don’t.” “But…” She pressed a trembling hand against her chest. “It hurts.” Kael instinctively moved beside her. “Stay away from him.” Noah glanced at Kael and chuckled softly. “So protective.” “You’ve always been like that.” Kael frowned. “We’ve never met.” “No.” “Not in this lifetime.” Silence followed. The Grand Oracle suddenly collapsed completely, her forehead touching the ground. “We are not worthy to stand before the First Dream.” The Emperor looked horrified. “The First Dream?” The Oracle nodded. “The oldest story in existence.” “The being who dreamed reality into existence.” Whispers spread among the surviving nobles. “That’s impossible.” “It’s only a myth.” “Myths,” Noah said calmly, “are memories that refuse to disappear.” He looked up at the sky. The black stars slowly began shining again. Only now, Seraphina noticed something she had never seen before. Behind every star… Someone was watching. Faces. Countless translucent faces hidden inside the light. Children. Old men. Women. Warriors. Billions of them. She gasped. “The stars…” “They’re alive.” “They always were.” Noah’s voice was gentle. “Every star is a soul.” “Every soul is a story.” “I simply gave them a place to shine.” The Star God finally lifted his head. “Why have You returned?” Noah became quiet. His smile faded. “Because reality is dying.” Those four words froze everyone. Ash slowly stood. “You mean…” “It’s happening again?” Noah nodded. “The walls separating realities are collapsing.” “The Void Emperor was never your greatest enemy.” Seraphina frowned. “Then who is?” Noah turned toward the tear in space behind him. For the first time… Fear crossed his face. “There are things beyond creation.” “Things even I cannot imagine.” The silence that followed felt endless. Then… A hand emerged from the white void. It was enormous. Far larger than the palace. Its skin wasn’t flesh. It looked like cracked porcelain covered in glowing black veins. One finger reached through reality. The universe screamed. Not metaphorically. Every star released a piercing cry. The Star God immediately spread his six wings. “Everyone behind me!” The porcelain finger touched the edge of the universe. The sky shattered. Thousands of cracks spread across the heavens. Cities on the horizon disappeared as pieces of reality simply… fell away. Not exploded. Not burned. Erased. Kael stared in disbelief. “What is that?” Noah answered quietly. “A Reader.” Everyone looked at him. “A what?” “The beings outside this universe.” “They don’t live here.” “They observe.” “They judge.” “They decide whether worlds continue…” “…or end.” Seraphina’s breathing became uneven. “You mean…” “Our world…” “…is being watched?” Noah nodded. “Since the day it was born.” The porcelain hand pushed further inside. A second hand appeared beside it. Then another. Dozens. Hundreds. Trying to tear the universe open. Ash drew his sword. “We can’t fight all of them.” “No.” Noah agreed. “You can’t.” The Star God looked toward Seraphina. “But she can.” She blinked. “Me?” “You are not merely the Star Queen.” “You are the Heart of Creation.” He stepped closer. “The universe remembers its creator.” “But only if…” He stopped. Seraphina frowned. “Only if what?” Before Noah could answer… The Crown upon her head cracked. A thin silver fracture spread across its center. The Star God’s eyes widened. “No…” Ash took a frightened step backward. “The Crown is breaking.” The Grand Oracle whispered in horror. “If the Crown shatters…” “The stars will lose their Queen.” A loud crack echoed through the heavens. The fracture doubled. Tiny fragments of silver fell from the Crown like tears. Noah looked at Seraphina with quiet sadness. “I found you…” “…just in time.” Another crack split the Crown. Then a voice echoed from inside it. Not Noah’s. Not the Star God’s. Not Seraphina’s. A woman’s voice. Ancient. Powerful. Filled with grief. “The False Queen has finally awakened.”
