Waifs can’t leave the geographical area where they died. Only Vagari may traverse the Limen and only because of their death energy. If Paul is to help us, to walk beside us in the overlapping dimension and direct us to the place where Ernesto’s soul pivoted toward death, Paul must be able to move freely. He must feed his hunger and gobble life energy from the void until he becomes untethered from his death place.
Breaking every rule of the High Order, I show him how. I identify the floating bits of life energy and direct him to feed. I warn him that hunger will start to consume him.
