Ellie's Point Of View Blackness. Inky and stagnant. It dripped into my subconscious, pulling me down into the safest corners of my mind. It was an escape from reality, a welcoming comfort in the madness. It whispered to me, telling me not to wake up, not to ever wake up, because if I did, I knew the truth, I'd never survive tonight. But the guttural growls in the distance were louder My eyes fluttered open but I closed them again when pain cut through the back of my head like a knife. A groan escaped me as I rolled over to my side, staring at the familiar expensive decor of my room and smooth velvet curtains blowing with the direction of the wind. I was in my room.
