Good Demonic Boy

2188 Words
I try to tell myself that this is a farce, but I can’t stop being excited about my first date in years. I don’t even remember the last time I went out with a man to have a nice little dinner, but I worry so much about what to wear for my date with my handsome demonic human that I end up running late. It takes me forever to style my hair because I make it all curly and cute, but then my brother walks inside my room and ruins my whole existence. “What?” I ask, annoyed with his ugly face staring at me. “You look like an old woman, do something different with your hair,” He says and leaves again. I feel so offended by his words that I have to take another shower to wash away my shame and then Nikolai sends me a million texts to hurry up so I end up doing nothing except blow drying my stüpid short old-woman hair. I don’t even have time to do my make up. When I finally arrive to the restaurant, forty minutes late, Nikolai is already sitting at a table with a drink on his hand and looking angry and sexy in all black. My outfit is a pink dress with long sleeves and a cute bow in the collar. “I’m so sorry, Nikolai, I had an emergency at the club,” I lie, giving him my best puppy eyes but his angry face never fades. I sit by his side with my smile in place, waiting for him to say something, “Are you mad?” “No. I’m not, I understand,” he absolutely lies, grinding his teeth so hard I can almost hear it. I know how much he hates waiting, I know he wants to yell at me right now the way he yells at everybody else, but he has to put on that angelic mask that I don’t buy for a second, “How are you?” “I’m wonderful, actually. But tell me, how are you? You’re not wearing any kind of neck support and the accident was awful,” I say, and I know because I was the one crashing into his car. I smashed my fücking head in the windshield because I forgot that seatbelts were a thing that even devils need. “I’m feeling better, I don’t need any kind of support,” He answers and smiles at the waitress when she approaches to give me the menu, “And now that we’re talking about it...” “I know, I know, but let’s order something first, yeah?” I ask and he gives me another tired look that he can’t mask very well. It must be the drugs he’s taking for the pain and how mad he is about me being late because in all this time I’ve been watching him, he’s never been anything other that nice and sweet with strangers, even when he’s getting people killed in the down-low, “Would you like an entrée to share?” “Sure, that sounds great,” He grounds out, taking a deep breath and smiling. Oh, lord, he’s really good looking. His dark hair is not styled back as usual, but he looks just as sharp as he always does. Even when he’s an angry beast, his face is gorgeous and magical, another proof of his demonic blood if you ask me. He entices people just like my own human cover, created with the sole purpose of provoking lust, envy and pride. I let him choose the entrée and order it, but then he goes back to the subject. I try to deflect it again but I can sense how angry he’s starting to get, so I take the paper out of my bag and hand it to him. "Those are the plates, I wrote them down before he left. But... oh, Jesus Christ, I don't know if I should say this," I whisper, feigning innocence. Niko looks at me with interest for the first time since I arrived, "I actually know the person who did it, he's a frequent customer at the club." "Tell me the name," He orders, "I mean... please, I'd like to know his name." "I think I'd get in trouble if I did, he probably saw me too and he'll know I was the one who said his name." "Agatha, look at me," He orders again. His dark eyes are piercing and full of strength. They call to me. Just like Belzat told me they would. This human is delicious, I can't wait to get to the lust test, "I give you my word, I won't let anyone retaliate against you." "Nikolai, I know you are a powerful man in the city, but you must understand that the major appeal of my brother's club is the extreme privacy for our members," I explain, shrugging my shoulders and loving the way his aura darkens because he's not getting what he wants, "If I tell you what happened and you press charges or something... he will know right away that I opened my mouth. And sure, this man has the power to hurt me, but even if he doesn't, he's one of our most frequent and high-end clients. We can't afford to lose him." "This person tried to kill me. I think I deserve to know who he is," He mutters, his voice sounding angry and deep. "You don't have to know the name, you have the plates. It's enough for the police to do their job and your fancy lawyers to do what they have to do... unless you've never really thought about involving the police," I say, raising my eyes to him and adoring the connection that's happening right now with our energies. We're fücking vibrating. Nikolai's face fills with understanding and his anger begins to subside, now filling with confusion. "What do you think you know?" He asks, eyes full of suspicion, "I can assure you, you’re wrong. And you don't want to mess with someone like me.” "All I know in my pretty little girly brain, is that the person who tried to hurt you is in incredibly shady business and has no connection to clean businessmen, so... if he wants to do something against you so badly, maybe you're not as clean as you seem to be," I whisper, almost climbing on the table to get closer to him. Nikolai has come closer too, but when he notices, he goes back to sitting up straight. He raises his glass and slowly takes a drink before answering me. "I don't think that concerns you, Agatha. If it's your club and your high range of clients that interest you, then I can send my acquaintances your way and make you earn more than you could ever imagine. Give me his fücking name and I'll make sure everything's fine with you and your club, okay?" "Hmm, maybe," I answer, just because I like to get on his nerves and make him lose control. Impatient little devil, "I'm just kidding. I'll take your word for it because we both have things to lose if this doesn't go well, don't we?" "Yes." "Gavriil Rossano," I finally say, when his gaze threatens to burn me alive. Nikolai's eyes go wild for a moment and I feel called by his anger. I didn't choose this person randomly, I knew it would cause a strong reaction in Nikolai, but I didn't imagine it would be so strong. I feel like I have to take advantage of his anger being so awake to feed it and test it, "He was at the club that night with his father Fabian but they left as soon as you got there... and when you left, he shows up out of nowhere to crash your car." "And why were you there, hmm?" He asks, suspicious. "Because I wanted to go home, Nikolai. I was barely out of the garage when you stopped in your tracks and Gavriil showed up." Nikolai sits there, breathing heavily, lost in thought. "What will you do to him?" I quietly draw his attention, filling my words with compulsion as I look directly into his eyes "You surely don't want to kill him, do you?" Nikolai holds my gaze for a few seconds and his upper lip rises in a smirk, but then he blinks and steps back, shaking his head and surprising me again. Damn, he's really strong. "Don't talk nonsense." He complains. "I'm not talking nonsense, Nikolai. I know you want to kill him," I blurt out, feeding off his anger and starting to feel a little bit too, showing once again how weak I am now. I would never have lost control like this before. I squeeze the edge of the table and reach out again, holding his eyes and forcing him to look at me, "He hurt you. He tried to kill you. You have to retaliate, Nikolai. Don't be a loser, do something about it. Kill him." Nikolai has a black cloud so big around him that I can hardly see anything besides him. I'm using all my power now, and it's finally working. Nikolai gets up and walks out of the restaurant. I don't look at him because I know he's going to kill him, just like I ordered. He’s a good boy. The waitress comes back with our entrée, looking a little confused by Nikolai leaving. I thank her and I order myself a big dinner to celebrate the first test. Successful. Nikolai I drive to the office feeling inside a weird cloud of anger that I can’t get out of. Deep down I know I should calm down for a moment and deeply think about the repercussions of what I’m planning, but I can't. All I can think about is how that fücker Gavriil is messing with me, even though we had a fücking truce. Even though we were friends once upon a time. We even had a respectful deal, we don't interfere in their business and they don't interfere in ours, certainly not with our fücking lives. I go to my uncle's office and when I walk in he's talking to one of our partners, thankfully no one I have to hide from. "Gavriil Rossano,” I say and he immediately understands what I'm talking about. He frowns, as confused as I am, “I want him dead. Now.” "Wait, son, think about..." "He crashed my car trying to kill me in a reckless way. Fück the truce, it's over." I spit, thinking briefly about our short but meaningful friendship. Fück that, “I’m going to kill him myself.” "Absolutely not," Peter interrupts, making me turn to him. "You will do nothing, Nikolai. We have staff for that, you of all people should know that." "I want to do it myself," I interfere, surprising everyone, but mostly myself. I don't know why I'm saying this. I close my eyes for a moment and I shake my head, trying to get some sense into my own brain. I want to go kill him with my own hands, but I know I don't have to. I have staff for that, I manage them myself. "I'm sorry, you're right. I'll send someone." "Niko..." my uncle starts, looking worried, but stops a second later and gives me a warm smile, "I trust you. Do what you think is right." “Thank you.” I mumble and I don't even wait to get to my office. I call Agent Lux’s number and inform him that there's a new urgent target. He doesn't ask questions or hesitate, he just tells me to send the information and he’ll do it, "There's no need, it's Gavriil Rossano. I'll pay you double if I have confirmation before midnight." "You got it, boss." I hang up the phone and feel a little satisfaction, but not at the level I would like. I have an unbearable urge to kill him with my bare hands and I don't even understand why. I have never killed anyone on my own, I have never even enjoyed this part of my job that is about killing people. I've never cared much about it, to be honest. The next few hours are spent in the same fog I can't get out of. All I want is to know that Gavriil is dead and I can’t think about anything else. I get in my car and drive around aimlessly for a while without knowing what to do to get rid of this overwhelming feeling of anxiety. At half past eleven I have a message from Agent Lux and I stop in the middle of the road. The message is a picture of Gavriil's body, dead. A strong feeling of delight runs through my body and it feels like a caress. Like real pleasure, but a few seconds later that feeling disappears and I'm left feeling confused. What the fück did I just do? And why?
